Just a couple thoughts on building walls. I like the free form of the wall building but there are times went it gets wonky. Some thoughts to straighten them out.
1. When building fences you always level the top and dig out the bottom. So make all the wall sections match a flat under layer. They should always be up right. That should deal with the issues of slanted and sideways sections that prevent you from building a wall or leave room for someone to slip in through unseen cracks.

2. Add towers for corners. Instead of bending a wall have a set square or round tower similar to a gate that extends out. The walls can connect to it and give a better transition to corners. It also is a good place to put crossbows, harpoons, spotlights. Have then extend out from the wall enough so that you can get a line of fine down the wall. That will keep bandits from pressing up against the wall right below you and you can't hit them.

3. if the wall sections remain vertical and don't bend to attach to the next, you will need steps or ramps from one to the next that allow access up and down. a flat over lapping hinge piece on the tops of the defense walls would allow that. The rise between wall sections would be managed by the builder.

4. In defense of walls, Please add a bucket of hot oil that can be over turned on those clustered under it. This would likely give another city building that you can add, called the oil cauldron, which could take various ingredients and produce oil. Which can then be used to refill hot oil buckets on the walls.

I like the idea of pouring oil on units against the wall. Could be setup like the turrets are and able to be placed the same way.
