Picked up Kenshi within hours of trying out the demo after seeing it come up on Steam Greenlight. The game really feels like it's building on a great premise for a truly interesting gaming experience that I know I will be diving into on a regular basis. From what I've been able to experience so far I'm really impressed and it can only get better from here.
I just had a few questions.
- What program has been used to create the models, terrain, buildings, etc?
My profession is in Architecture but I try and stay up to date with 3D modelling as that is where I hope my career will take me so I was wondering what program was used to create the art assets currently used in game.
- What is the planned progression for the generation of cities and towns?
I read somewhere in these forums that the aim was to randomly generate each town for each playthrough. Is the intention to use a predetermined tileset configuration or try and procedurally create towns based on parameters such as population, trade, military presence, etc. I'm really interested in learning more about what the development of Kenshi has planned for this.
- What is the over arching goal for the AI?
Just another question more for my own personal curiosity. In my head I am thinking of massive nations battling each other out for territory and resources. However in my mind I keep coming to the conclusion that this is going to take a lot of intricate planning to make sure that each possible generation of the world doesn't end in one faction completely dominating the world within a few hours due some unknown factor that crops up during a playthrough (Butterfly Effect) and make a world lose the constantly warring factions that I am seeing as a major reason why I want to play this game. Are there any theories as to how this can be avoided at this stage of the development?
I'm sure I'll think of some other things to ask and some answers would be definitely appreciated.
Thanks
A few questions about development of Kenshi
Chris (The Developer) likely uses Blender or 3Ds MAX, this is just a guess though, I don't know for certain.Oko wrote: What program has been used to create the models, terrain, buildings, etc?
