Haven't played Kenshi for a while and now it feels like a different game.

Very good work with sound and music, really :)

Haven´t played so much yet but gotta agree with the one before, yesterday i found myself just staring at my guys walking to another town for a while due to the immersing music, usually i would had skipped or high speed somehow, but i just after a while notice i was minimun speed and hears and eyes in game lol.

And anyone else feels the power of a group of armored man running close to you when you have nothing?

Really liking your soundtrack so far! :)
Wish there was more of the cello playing though. (Or I am staying somewhere were it doesent play enough)

But there is one thing:

Could you replace/tone down that distorted drone sfx pad which come in once in a while?
It gets really loud and makes my ears hurt, especially on headphones. I thinks it also doesen't fit the steel and martial arts nature of the game very much.

Soundtrack Release:
Looking forward to more. Are you planning on a Bandcamp album release with mixed down tracks?
There are a lot of "in-development" albums on Bandcamp, so you should be able to release while kenshi is still in the making to further fund your recording. (If that is okay with your Master). Ambient Music is always very nice to listen to while working. For example my CD of Skyrim has a 43 minute gameply-style, ambient track on it, which is very nice!

Sfx loudeness:
Could you maybe add a bigger radius to sound sfx? Most of the time I will be hovering above the scene, rather then stay in the fight, but I can't actually hear the fight / walking noises. Which is really distracting. I get your concern with fight music, but having no indicator of what you are looking at is a little boring.

I don´t know much about the system, except what i saw in Kole video about it, but i don´t think is possible to do a soundtrack of it, as the musics are rather "random generated" and not defined, , if you see the vid you ll get how it is and maybe why i think this,i might be wrong tho and there something to "fix" this and allow to, would be nice, tho for now i will stay skeptical about it xD.

The sound is amazing! Great work Kole! I "accidentally" fooled my self to think that the background ambient is real rain

Mr. Hicks, I must say, once all the pieces of your music were put together within the game, I came to realize that you are a master at atmospheric tracks. Seriously good and fitting work. Can't wait to hear the sounds of other biomes.

My only complaint is that the whipping wind sound we get when we zoom out is louder than the other sounds and thus a bit unbalanced.

Keep up the awesome work.

I thought it was really clever how the wind became louder as you scroll out. Made me feel like I was really watching from the clouds.

Great job Kole. I am waiting to hear the Kenshi theme song on the main menu!

I think it plays randomly uppon start of the game in the menue. But I am not shure if it is actually the main theme.

I think Tolwrath didn't mean it being a bad thing the scrolling affecting the loudness.
I think he pretty much nailed it! Just my thoughts! I was planning on posting my opinion but didn't really know the right words but now I don't have to.

I'm understanding he thinks that it's great thing the sounds chance according your distance, but now the chance is too "sharp". From complete silence and sound of footsteps to ear braking loudness in half a second. It's just too much!

There should be fading and a 10 second delay or something before scrolling affects to make it smoother and softer.

But the sounds really are amazing! Kole, you have done amazing job. I couldn't think anything that would be more fitting to the theme and the desert. I want Chris to add new biomes just that I could hear the sounds you will make for those. Also, I'd really like to hear your opinion about the "scrolling - sound" discussion we have here and to hear if it will be worked on? :)

Yeah agree too win Santa and Tolwrath...there is still some work needed with the sound balance. Proof enough that this game is still in development. Fine tuning it will truly make what is already a work of art into a masterpiece.

The sound and music, how should I say it...it's good, wonderful and fascinating but there is another word for it...its haunting...eerily filling the emptiness and fleshing out the game world with just the music itself...

I haven't much time for a full playthrough yet but I hope there's a spirit rousing battle music, victory music and also a heart wrenching defeat theme when all of your units fall unconcious or dead. Would be nice to have that mournful music playing while waiting for your units to wake up...or perhaps a vengeful tune knowing the retribution your enemies will receive once you are back on your feet...

All in all not sure if there's an alignment status like good or evil in this game but I do hope there's combat/victory/defeat/death music theme based on your faction alignment...

Thanks for the kind words everyone, it's appreciated & I'm very happy you're all enjoying the new Music/Sounds :D

I'll reply to questions & comments below...

Wish there was more of the cello playing though. (Or I am staying somewhere were it doesent play enough).

Although I've finished all the music for the Savannah Biome (where Cello is played), the Dunes music is the only one being triggered at the moment. You should hear more of it in future updates :)

Could you replace/tone down that distorted drone sfx pad which come in once in a while?

I'll be continuing to balance the volume of everything (sfx, music layers, etc.) over time, so I'll make sure to tone down anything that's overly "aggressive."

Are you planning on a Bandcamp album release with mixed down tracks?

Definitely planning on a Soundtrack release through both traditional digital channels (itunes, etc.), Bandcamp, & maybe even physical CDs if there is a demand for them. However, it'll only be available when everything is finished, so unfortunately we won't be releasing an "in-development or work in progress" soundtrack.

Side note... to hbrown's point, there aren't "traditional" tracks as in other games, so I'll be combining various elements from each layer to create a track or 2 that I think best represents that Biome.

Could you maybe add a bigger radius to sound sfx?

This'll be something I constantly tweak over time as well :)

Main Theme...

It should start playing as you boot the game, but it's around 4:30 long & takes its time to build up! However, if you're encountering a bug where it's not playing then please let us know.

Also, I'd really like to hear your opinion about the "scrolling - sound" discussion we have here and to hear if it will be worked on?

Chris & I are fans of having the wind become more dominant as you scroll further out, but I like your idea of having it fade in a little more subtly; so I'll be implementing that in my next pass with Wwise!

Battle, Victory, Defeat Music...

There will not be any of these traditional music tracks in Kenshi, as it doesn't fit with our overall vision for the game/music system. HOWEVER! The current Ambient/World Music you hear in Kenshi will not be the only music you'll encounter in the game. We're not quite ready to talk about that yet, but I think it'll be a little closer to what you were hoping for :)

Thank you for music.

It resembles me the music in Clamath from Fallout 2. :3

The sound update is great- it's really added a new dimension to the game. And the music! Has to be some of the most atmospheric music I've ever heard in a game!

The only slight issue I have with the sound is when you hear people walking around in heavy armour- it sounds to me more like someone walking on a metal surface, if that makes sense? I think it would be really cool if the sounds were layered as well- so if you wear chainmail under armour, you can hear the jingling of the mail and the clanking of the armour.
I've also noticed that when you wear light armour, it has the same sounds as heavy armour, but I have no doubt this is a WIP thing.

Other than that, it's great! Keep up the good work!
