I understand that Kenshi 2 is being developed. If you don't know what Vulkan is I seriously recommend looking into it. Vulkan was made by Chronos Group, pretty much the same group of developers that made OpenGL. Vulkan is the wave of the future, there are a wide variety of learning resources and information. Within the next 3-5 years Vulkan will likely be one of the most used graphics api's because it's so damn good. The only reason it is not widely used at the moment is because most developers don't want to remake their gaming engines and also development life cycles have not caught up.

It allows for improved multithreading, while its not perfect is a vast improvement off Directx 11. Even if your into a heavy development stage, switching to Vulkan will not take long. Kenshi 2 will run much faster because of it. You could with good programming build a completely seamless world without all that annoying loading Kenshi has.

Additionally I would look at converting Kenshi over to Vulkan. The game will run 10x faster and it won't take eons to convert. Please, I beg you. I love Kenshi so much, don't let Kenshi 2 have the same performance related shortcomings that Kenshi has. Yes there will be a learning curve, however it is worth it. If you stay stagnant with the Ogre Engine no matter how good your code is there is only a certain amount of performance you can push out of it.

ALSO... a big ALSO!!! with Vulkan you can finally make your games multiplatform!

Just an additional suggestion. Please make Kenshi 2 with Multiplayer. We want Multiplayer so bad. I recommend a peer to peer server structure using inter planetary file system. IPFS is in alpha, but it's great.

this would still take a long time to change over to it.
programming is not a simple plug and play. it can take years to change out new engines and learn the new one.
you have to change all the assets to the new system and thats if it will let you keep the same things you had with the old engine.

in the mean time you are coughing out money every month. making a game is not cheap.

and this doesnt even go into the complexity of cross platform and MP on top that. and how much that would cost.

They are doing it the current way because,
its easier, and more cost effective.
they will have a easier time of back-porting the Ogre 2.1+ upgrade to Kenshi 1
All the assets are setup for the current engine.
Do you believe the sexes should be equal?
Oh heavens no.
Then Men would become unmanageable

Current computer specs.
AMD FX-8150 - Eight Core, 3.60GHz
NVidia GTX 1050TI
24GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 MHz Ram
WD 1tb HD, 870 EVO 1TB SSD

I'm not totally convinced that Vulkan is what it says it is.

I just bought X4:Foundations, it's a Space Sim, sandbox game where you can build Factories in Space, become a tycoon with a complex war mechanic that you can be apart of and fight for one of the factions or just stay out the war and profiteer on the war.

I say this because Egosoft (The Developers of X4:Foundations) They have taken the big leap from Open Gl to Vulkan, X4 came out about a week before Kenshi was released, around the same time and from what I've experienced from playing.

They say X4 leaves room to add more features, yet it's consumption of PC resources is allot more than their previous title of X:Rebirth which released as a total flop down to it's bare bones features and bugs compared to the X3 series.
Egosoft have been optimizing the game and it runs a little bit more smoothly than it did on release and allot less buggy.
But apart from aspects of the War Mechanics that are buggy and need reimagining (Which to be fair, they've taken into account) Their future Patch 3.0 should fix this.

But I digress, Vulkan hasn't made the game any more stable or faster IMHO. Maybe all it needs is new updates and some polish to make these ambitions as a successor to Open GL possible, but right now, I'm personally not seeing it.
I've read up on Vulkan and what they say it can do, so it did have me excited.
But playing a game that uses it, so far I'm not impressed.

i dont know anything about programing, so i'll believe devs when they say conversion is tough.

as for cross platform PC MASTER RACE bitches!

and for multiplayer F*UK THAT, there heaps of multiplayer games every damn game gets whiners like you who wants multiplayer and it causes devs to waste a massive amount of time developing some multiplayer shit that doesnt work well and also f*cks up single player too.

So please for the love of anything f*ucking holy NO MULTIPLAYER

NO MULTIPLAYER

Also i censored because i dont remember what is allowed in this forum.

Online services require a ton of servers, manpower to maintain them and money for the running costs.
I can't see Lo-Fi doing that; they don't have a Bethesda-sized team of programmers.

Hence why they said they are using an up to date version of the Ogre Engine because making Kenshi 2 from the ground-up would in the Developers words.. "Take another Million Years".
So it's a bit brash to be reacting to people who want multi-player. They're trying to keep the lights on as it is.
But I'll add myself to the list, every independent game forum i'm on, there is always a few that want Multi-player.
Taking abuse from Pubescent Brats because I killed them is not my idea of fun why I never even give Live Service games a look in.
Not my thing, and I wont be buying Kenshi 2 if it goes that road, bad enough that the game is badly optimized and crashes, can't even play it on Steam without turning it to Offline Mode.
