Look into learning 3dmax - unfortunately it costs quite a bit of money but is the industries standard on a lot of things.

I'd start off with very simple things, such as small objects. Swords, armors, and so on. It's doubtful you'll get much into the game (if at all) but it will teach you a lot on how to model and texture, and eventually you'll start turning out parts which can be used.

There are a lot of tutorials on it on google = )

If you are looking to get into modeling, Blender is the best freeware tool around: http://www.blender.org/

Anyone which can export as a .mesh

http://www.ogre3d.org/download/tools

You may have to google to see if there's an exporter for wings though, as that list on the website is pretty old.

Should it turn out there is none, you'll have to do your work in wings, export it to another program where you export it as mesh.

Good luck = )
