Has kickstarter been considered?

Wasteland 2 just finished their kickstarter making a bit over 3 million. I wonder if kickstarter would be a good option for this as well.
Love this game and bought a key after just hearing about some of the things about the game and I am sure others may as well if it is out there more.

Kickstarter only allow US citizens. I'm thinking of trying indiegogo, i just need to get the willpower to do it when id rather be programming.
