What does 'Efficiency' mean, regarding tasks?

That is, is it just a flat measure of how many people are working the job? Or does having the max amount of workers, resulting in the highest possible 'efficiency', increase the amount of work each individual worker does?

Do 3 workers complete a task in 1/3rd the time of a single worker, or even less?

i think it also depends on which upgrade u have. If i remember right a manual stone mine max effi is 40% while the next upgrade is 60%.

But yeah having 2/3 workers is faster then 1/3 (how much faster depends on there labouring skill) :p
but i guess with the same skill it will go 2ce as fast

So how are 'efficiency' & skill factored into the speed of production?

Is having 2 workers twice as fast, or is it more than twice as fast?

Is the work a worker does multiplied by the efficiency, so having 1 worker at 50% vs 2 workers at 100% actually a difference of 1:4?
