So I saw this game on steam and I REALLY wanted to play it since the description and reviews made it seem like the perfect game. The problem I had was that I'm using a mac and Kenshi is only available on PC. I did some research and figured out how to dl steam on wine. Then I purchased and downloaded Kenshi. Everything was set. I clicked play game and it started loading some start up and I got an error message, something about start up not working. I tried opening it directly from the desktop and it says I have nothing that can open that file type. I'm not a programmer or even very computer literate. This has been a process that has been going on for hours. At this point I can't give up because it would be like I wasted the day on nothing. I'm hoping someone can give me some advise on what I'm doing wrong here. I loaded the integrity of the game and other troubleshooting solutions I saw on here, nothing is working. I really want to play.

From what I have read, someone was able to play Kenshi through Wine (up to version .72). I have no idea as to how different Linux Wine is to Mac Wineskin. (As they are both Unix-based).
Maybe you can try different OS virtualization software. however I do not know of any reliable/free ones with proper graphics support.
The core files are built for Windows systems if I am not mistaken, so in terms of executing those files on a Mac I really cannot see any proper way to do this beyond emulators.

Yeah, I'm using a macbook. I don't really care what method, I just wanna be able to play lol. I paid for the game, but more than that, I spent hours ting to get this to work. I'm really not that good/ experienced with this type of thing but I really wanna figure it out. At this point though I think I need someone more computer literate/ knowledgeable to tell me how they got this to work. I'm open to using an emulator (I thought wineskin more or less was an emulator) so if you know a better emulator that will definitely work or is easier to use I'm Def open to any suggestions. So far I used wineskin and something else that was similar. The game takes ridiculously long to download using wineskin type apps as opposed to normal dl so it's pretty frustrating not being able to make it work when it's finished. I watched YouTube tutorials and did everything they did so idk what I'm doing wrong but it's got me feeling pretty defeated rn

Sadly, I do not have any emulators I know of to recommend. What you can do is try to post the youtube links that you watched on this topic and maybe someone can walk you through it.
The only alternative I can think of is running an emulator with a Windows OS on it. (i.e. an emulator where you actually install the Windows OS on it, rather than one that simulates Windows)

I believe one should be able to install Windows on Mac, at least i've seen the hybrid with my own eyes couple years ago, and person claimed that there was no particular troubles with installing it. So there would be your perfect solution, if it's still possible and easy

The best way would be to use BOOTCAMP
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201468
Follow link above check your macbook meets all the requirements, and then follow the instructions. It is a little tricky so i would print them out first.
Unfortunately for this you will also need a copy of Windows 7, 8 or 10.
You will then have a macbook which runs both OS X and Windows. You just choose whether you want to load Mac OS or Window at bootup.
Hope this helps

Some emulators/Virtual environments have issues with the graphics controller being messes up, so dual booting is definitely a Good call.
If you look on places like Amazon you might be able to pickup a legit copy of Windows 7/8 etc for a decent price. (Still. look out for scams)
