some polearms have bonus vs animals, my question is what living thing belong to "animals"?
human? spider? turtle? leviathan? beakthing? ......

Far as I know, it should be anything non-humanoid and non-robot. So Dogs, Gutters, Leviathans, Gorillos, Raptors, etc.
