Kenshi took over a decade to make. By the time kenshi 2 is finished, kenshi 1 will have 30 times the mods of skyrim. Hell that lab that makes those mods has a small kenshi thread there....

the original should always be bought. so you know where the story comes from.

It is one of the most unique blends of RPG and RTS games ever created, that offers a lot of lore to learn, areas to explore, and different challenges depending how you want to play. Kenshi 2 is coming sometimes, we hope, but there is a lot of value in the game as it is with a huge library of mods to tailor the game to fit your liking. It will take quite some time for Kenshi 2 to be released and for the modding community to create the number of mods we have out for Kenshi now....and if they offer and early access model again it could take even longer for them to finish, you can still find videos of people playing the game when the south east quarter of the map was greyed out and missing.

I would highly recommend the game to any one interest in RPGs and to a lesser degree RTS games. I am sure the sequel will offer many improvements by the end, but I'll never regret my time with Kenshi and am sure I will play it even after Kenshi 2 releases unless they just totally find a way to make the game obsolete. Which would be hard, if not impossible.

I first started with Kenshi 1, I dunno, more than 10 years ago and I am so glad I did, because I suspect that when Kenshi 2 comes out I won't have time for Kenshi 1 any more.
