on-demand motion capture (as promised)
hi everyone.
after a hard searching work, i think i finally found what a talked about in another thread.
so here's the link to a news that talks about it:
http://www.cgchannel.com/2012/02/mocap- ... e-service/
so this is on-demande motion capture aviability for a low price. which could mean alot more in the game concerning character animation.

Sounds pretty good. XD And the prices sound pretty okay too. Of course I don't really know how much Budget Chris has at the moment and I don't know how much he gets from sales every month.
But after seeing the prices, I'd say that with around 500-600 we would get everything we want to add to the game. Spears, fighting animals, (guns?), deflecting arrows, burials, finishing moves, grabbing, wrestling, charge,... Anything ever suggested. And it would get cheaper if not all were implemented of course.
Hope Chris sees this

well, no it's not a SPAM
, i'm really trying to help.
and btw i say it again, i could help with the 3D work as well, for free. if Chris is interested i can share some of my realizations. but once again it would be for free, so i absolutly couldn't work on it even half time. but still could do a few things. (this isnt a SPAM either)
and, why is your nickname blue?

It was one of the rewards in the indiegogo campaign. Maybe you can still buy it in the special versions, but i'm not sure it's available.
but if you buy the 2000usd special version, i think you'll get the blue color too

$250-$300 is rather pricey, though the mocap could prove useful. (I wonder how many animations can be done in the 15 minutes?)
Is this an "Animal Farm" book reference I am picking up here?1337 said: Everyone is special although a few are more special than others.

yea well it looks pricey for a regular person. but its pretty cheap for what it is. i mean other ways to get animation (ask a "regular" studio, buy the equipment...) would be at least 10 times more expensive.
but again this is just to help, take it or leave it. i just don't see any other ways, exept hand made animation, which would still require to hire another artist.

Isn't 5min of mocap a lot? An attack stance takes what? 3 secs or sth like that... add an animation for when the victim gets hit and one for when he blocks and we have 10secs of animation for one att+def. That's around 5 per minute.
When I read my post I thougt of animal farm too. But since I didn't do it intentionally (only for the joke), it doesn't count as a reference imo. I guess we could call it a half-reference... a halference maybe...

Nice find, and while im no animator I think Five minutes of animation would be Good enough for about 40 to 50 attack defense combinations if one person attacks and another defends, though you have to factor complexity in as well.
Also many of the animations they have for sale are basic ones, and most likely the more dangerous an animation the more risky and the more expensive. So I would guess Chris would have to pay around 1000 or 1500 dollars for realistic combat, though like I said I have little experiance in the field.

Yeah, if the 5-15 minutes can yield that amount than it is a good deal.
I change my vote. Excellent idea!
