Robbing

Anyone got any good robbing comments?

I was looking at some of the comments on the screenshots and I saw someone say "nice, cant wait to rob it. we can do that right? " (on a screen of a shop) It made me remember playing Ultima 1 or 2 can't remember witch one but... I went into a shop and figured out how to rob it without the shop owner catching me. It was sooo much fun. simple fun! There was just stuff around that you could grab but if the shop owner saw you the guards came and killed ya! I think what made it so fun was the fact that it wasn't part of a quest or the main plot it was just stuff there in a shop... and I wanted it hah!

Not sure what the plan is for robbing a place weather it be kill the owner and grab or more sneaky. There was something inherently cool about getting away with the loot. In that same game they had a weapons room in the back of the castle and some secret passages to get into it... never quite figured that one out. I spent a long time leaning against the wall whistling while the gaurds pasted by and waiting to sneak into a off limits area!

I think that game was the one that ruined me for all games in the future...(not that it was all that great) but I want to do stuff cause I want to not because if I don't I can't move on in the game or I just can't do it cause they don't want me to! This is why I am looking forward to this game.

Sometimes the simplest things in a game make it fun.

Well there is a stealing section in the latest video that was released.
But yeah, I to have fond memories of stealing in games.
Its the little things that make them fun.

It won't be in the 1st release, but I intend to add a good stealing side to the game. I loved playing thieves in Morrowind and Oblivion, jumping into the top floors of buildings and stealing all their cutlery.

My favorite thief moment was in Gothic III, I was talking to Zardas (The very powerful Necromancer) and when he turned his back I clubbed him upside the head and stole everything in sight (All powerful my ass, I Knocked him out with a frickin twig of a stick).

You know, that's what bugged me most of the whole stealing stuff thing (well, apart from every single shopkeeper being some kind of mystic diviner for stolen goods  ), I had fun running up and down stairs to steal stuff when they couldn't see me, but it still bugged me that they didn't do anything about it. I hope stealing stuff won't be as easy as breaking Line of Sight for 1/2 a second and then just walking out with all their silver-ware, with the NPC just standing there, saying "Good day to you" or "I saw a mudcrab the other day, nasty creatures.".

Hi all !

Morrowind and Oblivion were good times....until I found out all the guards were psychic.

I'm keen to see how you are going to handle thieving as well as the whole crime and punishment system.

A *light hands* system works pretty good for pick pocketing and such, pilfering an inhabited dwelling should be off the table. Will NPCs be on day/night cycle routines ? This could ellviate the needs of more *shady* characters.

Oh and ArcaneSaint: "I saw a mudcrab the other day, nasty creatures.". was actually NPC secret code for *thieving player sighted and reported to psychic police network*.
