Hi, i'm Vurt, i do the environments for Kenshi. I thought i would give you an update of what you can expect to see in future updates (it's always fun to tease, no?)

I've been hard at work adding new shrubs, flowers, some new tree types, rocks and a few props (skeletons). Below is a little "gallery" of the upcoming additions, enjoy! I'll post more updates in the not too distant future.

Excellent stuff vurt. You have talent, no doubt about that.

Will you be teasing us with an estimated eta or are we not going to see this for a few updates yet?

Hello,

This is really looking nice, even a few bushes and shrubs can change the way people see the environnement and it looks less empty, because i must admit, an entire desert world was a little disturbing to me the first time i played Kenshi. Reminded me of Tatooine ...

Anyways, i'm not sure if this has already been answered but, is it planned to have some more tempered areas or will it stays a desert world ? I heard there would be water soon here and there, so why not some green too, maybe on the northern borders.

Chris has said there will be more biomes as stated in the "Plans" update here

http://www.lofigames.com/index.php?limitstart=25
The world map will have more distinct zones. These zones will have different faction domination, races, different danger levels. Some zones will be impossible to survive until you are very strong. Eventually these zones will also have different creatures and biomes (eg grasslands, marsh, snow possibly, etc).

Not to rain on Vurt's parade or anything (I love your work BTW, looks awesome), but you might want to check out these mods:
[MOD] Sand to Snow Texture mod
[MOD] Sand to Grass Texture mod

Vurt's flora probably even works with these mods. Speaking of, is that mod still active Vurt?

Edit: stupid autocorrect changing vurt to hurt...

Nice little surprise when i came on the forums to check whats going on! looking good man, the map needs a bit of beefing out i know its only a place holder but its just a baron... i know the grass and snow mods exist but they just change the color to make it a little bit easier on the eyes! although im not saying they look bad i just think we need more environment! Good job man looking good looking forward to seeing them in game!

It's really a nice job I can't wait to see where these skeltons comes from, and if this kind of creature will be implemented :D will they ?

But the real important questions is: Do you have a beard ?

@Tolwrath:

I'm actually modding some stuff myself so i was planning to do it on my own for now. Already made an alternate chainmail shirt using the augmail texture i found in Kenshi's files, and it looks pretty nice with a few layers for dirt and folding. it's just a texture replacement after a few tweaks in photoshop.

However i think it would look better to have a steppe like environnement ratherthan a really greenish grassland now that i think of it. That way those bones, shrubs, yellow grass and trees from vurt's work would fit perfectly without changing anything.

@ Tolwrath you mean the grass mod? yeah it should work.

@ Kehlian no, these creatures are since long dead ;) Ofcourse i have a epic beard!

And yes, the game will have many more biomes other than desert, but it might take some time before you will see them.

Will these be in the map as exist or will the map be expanded?

There will be around 8 different biomes, i believe each of them will be the same size as the desert map, so the game world will be really massive and offer many different environments to explore :)

But again, don't expect to see any new biomes in a month or so.. each biome takes a lot of time to create (a month or more / biome), and they will be released together in a giant update (at least that is the current goal).

now that looks like a real desert. Will some of the plants be interactable? I cant wait until it gets implemented.

Not sure what you mean, there's plenty of water in my game

(but yeah the first area will probably stay like it is, this water is just experimental for now)

wow that looks great!
I'm not sure whether this counts as intractable but can we hide from bandits in there?
Also what program did you use to make this awesome foliage?

The skeletons are just props, they serve no purpose other than graphics.

I use Canon 500D, Photoshop, Blender... And usually in that order :)
