bad placement, or problem with traders?

So, I'm coming back to kenshi after a long break, and I installed fresh (actually just did a complete reformat as well), and I placed my town on the lower end of the plateau that Shark is on, thinking that traders should have to pass me to get to shark, and yet I haven't seen a single one. The building is open, the town is open, the door is open, and the counter has some rum in it. Any ideas on where i'm going wrong?

right now traders only buy these known items.
items i have seen them buy from my own store as well.
Rum.
bread.
Textiles
medkits.
have heard people say the strawflour has sold as well, but i have never seen it in any of my games where its in my counters.

I'm not even getting them to come visit though. Kinda lonely out here. Kinda why I picked the location, figured that the path leading to a town would be a good place but so far, no go.

Water trades well btw, though be prepared to get really attached to whoever comes. I have had a trader in my base for 12 in game days.... They've bought 100ish barrels of water, 50ish fabric (which I wanted to keep and don't remember putting it in there, and 17 leather. I put mine at the base of the hill to the town in the center of the map (sorry I'm not good with names) also just a note, expect town population to disappear lol and for traders to have 40+ guards with 1-2 actual traders (idk where they put all the stuff they bought lol)

it may be placement.

I made a new base to raid cannibals from, and i am not visited by traders, or by dust bandits asking for money. This base is north of clownsteady, at the base of the three hills. I have not seen any dust bandits or traders near it when i have done my patrols, so i believe that some places will not get any traffic if you build a base there. Either that, or the cannibals are capturing the dust bandits before they can notice my base.

yeh something is up with the traders i think i have a bunch of high lvl weapons in my counter and havent sold anything. I did have a holy servant weapon merchant almost come into my base was pretty excited then he hit my gate and turned around everything was open to public to :(. on the bad side leaving the gate open all the time for possible traders means bandits just walk in and mess up the joint.

Maybe the purchase of armour and weapons has a stage hope the traders will be able to buy.

New Kenshi lover here;

I have some few questions regarding trader buying your goods. Does the building that hold your goods as to be open for public? Which storage or counter does it has to be in for the trader to buy from?

Thanks in advance.

Currently, traders do not function.
To answer your questions for whenever the traders do function...
  • Traders buy good from Shop Counters and Shop Counters Large
Both the building that houses the Shop Counters and the whole outpost need to be set to Public

Sorry to bump an old thread, (didn't think I should start a new one while one is up) but are the traders working recently? And if so, anyone got any good locations for a trading base?

I doubt they will be working until the 64bit and pathfinding patch comes in. Which should be only a week or two know, according to Chris' twitter.

Thanks Tolwrath. Good to know I may not have to rebuild my town just yet. :)
