Hello

This is a loaded question......but will my current town/characters still be usable with new features when the new world is populated? This was talked about in the latest update post. Or I did I misunderstand the post.

Just Import your saved game and tick "Import with building" and "Import with research" and you will have everything from your save+new stuff working........I recommend to pres Ctrl + Shift + F11 to rebuild the navmesh

I'd doubt it really, since the map will presumably change a lot, so your buildings could end up being, like, underground or something. Importing with buildings is buggy as it is, importing them to the new world map would probably be impossible.

But then again you could try starting an underground city

do not get attached to your town for sooner or later you will have to rebuild it.

as for characters. you should be able to keep those throughout the entire process up till release and after.
But make sure you keep backups just in case a bug eats your save or saves.
