I get this right after selecting new or load game

make sure you're not pressing any keyboard keys, as doing so on the menu screen will create a crash. Possibly some scripts will do this in the background.

Other than that, you might want to try reinstalling and see if the error persists.

can you run the older versions of the game? What video card do you have?

I have Intel(R) HD Graphics Family.
i never use the keys and yes i ran the other builds just fine

Try a completely fresh new install, that fixes things for a lot of people because old files left over from previous versions are making it crash.
