Ordering the first character of a squad to follow the second character leads into the first character getting very close to the second, constantly bumping and pushing each other. It is like he/she is trying to walk on the same position as the second character.

Sorting the squad members in the squad menu does not fix the problem.
Dragging the follower out of the squad and back into the squad (to second position) fixes the problem.
