game reinstall

Hi,

After general game degradation over time I think that reinstalling would provide a better solution than Steam's local file integrity verification.
What I don't know is after a clean reinstall + copying the current save file back to the game directory will bases still be there?
Would it be better to import or just copy paste the save game?
Will faction ratings still be the same?
I am assuming that characters will be added back no problem.
Items/buildings/fields/etc. I am not so sure about.
