Can't enter specific buildings/ Chars walking through walls

Hey everyone!
First of all: Great game - exactly my style, can't wait for more content! Definitely well spent 11 bucks so far

Okay, so I settled down near Catan, built up a small community, starting to trade, so far so good.
But for some reason, suddenly my characters can not enter specific buildings in town anymore like the taverns for example. Both taverns in catan seem bugged. My chars simply walk INTO the stairs and THROUGH solid walls, just to end up in a blackened space where the tavern should be. (Inside the 'dark tavern' i can only see NPC-heads.)

NPCs also behave like that. They simply walk through walls.
While in this blackened mess, I still can hover my mouse over shopcounters and NPCs and use them..
Is this a known bug? What can I do about it?

I tried starting a new game with my old squad,
this seems to fix the problem.

Do you remember if anything happened before the bug?

Was there a crash while building or saving?
Was there a super-long pause when you built something, in particular that windmill?

Happens often to me, with no apparent reason why.
