How do you forge steel bars?

They are a component for advanced smithing, currently I've only been able to obtain it by purchasing from vendors.The tooltip for raw iron suggests that there's a function to smelt steel bars, however I've yet been able to find said function.

So could anyone enlighten me on this issue?

Yeah and be careful as I already reported the steel bar bug. If you try to make a weapon that uses steel bars, you will forever have to use steel bars to make even the most basic items. Destroying and rebuilding the weapon station has NO effect, it spawns with requirement of steel bars instead of just ore.

I am sure Chris is working on fixing this and the output bugs on weapon crafting for the next patch. But until then, I highly suggest you don't use more that ONE guy to make advanced weapons, otherwise you can't grind out the cheap stuff to sell, as it won't use iron, it wants steel bars now.
