Audio Update - Game crashes on start

After installing the Audio update on Steam, -when I select Load Game or New game, the game will crash and freeze. Music will still play, but the controls are frozen and I need to exit the game with the task manager. There is be a seperate window, telling me the game has crashed.

Please also note: This was my first start in steam, I played Kenshi with the gamersgate version before, but decided to download a new copy with steam, using the existing serial. (Although I don't think thats the problem here). I tested both load game and new game.
Hopefully this will be an quick and easy fix, would like to hear more of your music asap!
