I encountered a really really strange bug I hadn't seen before.

My base is on the edge of the mountains almost directly south of the eastern cannibal base. Shortly after adding a new character, my squad had to walk from there to Shark in the northwest to sell some armor plates. When I finally got back to my base, it was overrun with cannibals.

But it gets weirder. My characters could no longer unlock the doors, instead they tried to break all of them down (I could still open them by clicking the closed/open button in the hud though). To my shock, several of my buildings were housing a full squad of cannibals. Weirder still, the cannibals apparently built stuff inside of my homes. Stuff I can't dismantle...

TBH: this would be a pretty cool feature, if it wasn't for not being able to dismantle the furniture.

Questions:
Did you import your game at all?
If not, did any load/save happen before you returned?

Yeah, I had saved while my whole team was in Shark. However, there was no importing during that trip. I then saved again once I got back to my base and saw there were cannibals. That save was my quicksave. I then tried importing with buildings, hoping the cannibal stuff would disappear, but instead it made the cannibals the owner of the outpost. That is the Tolwrath's buggy save I zipped up.

I then tried importing without buildings, and they stayed there. I verified my files (13 redownloaded), and tried again, buildings still remained. I then tried to import my quick save without buildings, but with research, and resetting squad position. My squad stayed in the same place, and any trace of my old outpost completely vanished, but I was stuck in an infinite load of sorts. I was able to place a small shack, and order my troops to pick one another up, but they couldn't move. I was able to save during this load bug though, so I did.

So basically, I fixed it by wiping the entire outpost off of the face of the planet. Oh and right clicking on the cannibal owned stuff in my base with the in-game editor (Shift+F12) caused an immediate crash every time. Another thing that may have caused it... Before the trip, I accidentally hit populate and clicked in my town twice, causing some NPCs to spawn, didn't see what faction, as I immediately closed the editor, then quick loaded my game.

Your base will be fixed in the next update, just in case you want to save it.

Provided you kill all the cannibals of course.

Oh, it'll be my pleasure.

Unfortunately, I now only have saves of after the import attempts, and where that outpost no longer exists.

KEEP THE OVENS!!! those are very cool. They are a great way to immediately despawn a corpse!!! Granted, it only works on the completely dead, but still, it removes all the unwanted clutter.

After importing the game with research and buildings checked in order to fix the ghost town bug, the ownership of my town changed to the United Cities. This was a double edged bug, because i finally attracted trade to my modest town but could no longer change any of the characteristics of the buildings. They were also furnished with npc town type things... barrels, beds, etc. Now people walk through walls and over defenses, and the ghost town bug is still present.

I realize some of these buggs have been mentioned, but I believe the ownership changing may be new. I would post screenshots, but steam only allows the f12 button to work at its own convince, not mine..

I checked the list and didn't see it posted, but if this is known bug please disregard. thx!

PS- has anyone mentioned a right/left handed feature? For cosmetic reasons only, it seems like it would be a easy enough selectable trait to implement. Anyway, just a thought! I am really enjoying this game and look forward to a genre changing end result!!!

This is a copy of my old post from steam forums. I attached the save file. Thx again

So after .59 came out last night, I tried loading this game up again to see if it was fixed. Sorta.
I loaded up the save posted above. All the buildings had reverted back to my control. All the NPC added furniture was under my control too. I tried to dismantle some of it, but to no avail, as the furniture automatically rebuilds itself to match the NPC building template. I tried deleting it using the in-game editor, but that still caused crashes.

Next, I tried importing that save, to see what it would do. Furniture still there. It turns out that everything in the outpost came back into my control, including the cannibal spawn points, meaning I had an army of cannibals at my disposal. Sadly I couldn't click and drag to take control of them, but I could shift+click each one individually. I also found that the cannbials not in my squad window would let their AI control them when they weren't following one of my direct orders. So if they weren't moving for me, they'd run back to town, or pick up unconscious bodies.

I quickly raced the army to the nearby town of Clownsteady. Sadly my forces were whittled down by attacks from other cannibal troops while I marched. I attacked the guards at the gates with all the cannibals I had gathered. All the cannibals died at the gates. Only my faction leader managed to get inside of the gates, and then by only a foot.

This is really, really cool. I wish I had cool bugs like this.

Could you equip armor on them?

Maybe this can be adapted as a "conquer" mechanic? Or would it be easier to build one of those from scratch? This has to be my favorite bug from the game.

Y'know... those screenshots look a LOT like what I envision Kenshi will become one day. Armies of hundreds of individuals throwing themselves at the gates of their enemies (or for no reason at all)

Makes me want to see if the squad cap has increased since the last time I reached it (with 20 members)

So the save I've been playing on is one where I had used import without buildings to get rid of that cannibal town. Recently (during .59.1) when importing without buildings again, the town came back. It does not show up on the map, buildings are part of "cannibal village" and are owned by cannibal faction, but the machinery, such as mines and refineries, still belong to me.

Currently trying an experiment to remove the town. I put a new building in the center, renamed my faction to Cannibals, and my outpost (now on map due to new building) Cannibal Village. I'm hoping that will make it identify as mine, and then disappear with some importing. Was still saving up building materials for later projects last time I played, so I haven't tried importing yet. I'll let you know how it goes tonight.

Yeah so no, of course that didn't work. I tried making a new game, and the town was still there. Under Neko's advice, I deleted my data folder and revalidated (still have my saves). Now the town is finally gone. Oh and also the constant speed ragdoll physics bug is gone.

edit: crap now my post count isn't exactly 666 anymore.
