Hi, Mr dev, Miss dev, please sit, because i have bad news for you. It seems, that your little baby, "AI", might be in a serious mental condition. Let me explain:
-Obsessive-complusive disorder: It apears that AI has severe OCD, most of them being in link with doors, i can't count the time that i saw a worker mining, then leave it's work to go on a gate/door emplacement, sometime to open it, some other just to go to it before coming back to work. Sometime, they go in a completely different place, and just refuse to moove anywhere else than this place, being ready to climb walls if necessary for that
-Phobia: Sometimes, AI enter in a crisis state, and it's obsession for doors turn to phobia, restraining AI to go through thoose doors. This phobia can even turn into agora-phobia when AI will refuse to go above a particular axis, prefering the safety of it's side.
-Paranoïa: Regularly, AI feel threatened, where it soulden't be the case, like when an enemy is placed uncouncious into a cage, in this case, AI will want to attack it, even if there's no reason to. It can also manifest when an enemy is behind walls, with no way to reach anyone, and with doors locked. AI will still try to attack it without reason.
-Suicidal tendencies: Remember a thing, that shocked me. A sand ninja jounin was in my base when i came back in it, all my team just went on it, but ain't fight at all, just took hit from the jounin, being packed around it they took insane aoe damages and quickly half of my team was on the floor. If i diden't acted quickly, they would all have suicided themselves onto the jounin's blade.
-Memory loss: Another problem, is that AI seems to don't remember a lot of things, like that they already tried to go to a place by this way, and that it diden't worked. Or that a dust bandit was locked in that cage before you leave your town to go on a hunt.
Conslusion: Yes, this is a bit of a troll, but not that much. It's more a list of bugs that i encountered, most of them seems to be linked to the door/wall system, like random invisible walls that sometimes act on only one of your char, thoose errors seems to appear when the game is running since a moment on the same save. saving and reloading seems to make go away most of thoose bugs, but they sometimes appear after 3 or 5 minutes of game-time. Another bug that i encounter and diden't add above (coulden't really correspond to a mental problem :/) is that regularly, characters are kinda "fusionning", they stack on each other and can't be splited if the save is not re-loaded. That's all for now, if i notice anything else i'll let you know.
Keep up the good work your game is definitelly amazing and full of promises. Frenchly yours, Enkar.
AI + Pathfinding + Stuck Together Bugs
Have you tried Ctrl+Shift+F11 to rebuild the NavMesh? Usually fixes all pathfinding/AI problems.Enkar wrote:-Obsessive-complusive disorder

Also make sure you aren't playing a save game from another patch, and that its imported into a new game after getting 0.61.1 (or any other patch in the future)
I've actually noticed that random prisoners in cages will disappear. Also, Set Free has never worked properly. It just teleports them to some random spot outside the building but still within my outpost.Enkar wrote:-Memory loss: Another problem, is that AI seems to don't remember a lot of things, like that they already tried to go to a place by this way, and that it diden't worked. Have one character Pick Up the other and then proceed with life.Enkar wrote:Another bug that i encounter and diden't add above (coulden't really correspond to a mental problem :/) is that regularly, characters are kinda "fusionning", they stack on each other and can't be splited if the save is not re-loaded.
Well, for the title, it was more for the comical effect. Bugs repports can be really booring to read so i thought that a little joke would be welcomed by dev readers. As it's a list of bugs encountered, if i had to describe it in a few words i woulden't know how i can call it (also, not native, and i got to admit that it's not always easy to find the good words) Any idea how i can rename it?
For the ctrl+shift+f1, never tried it (diden't heard about), i'll do it soon. Get the alpha like less than a week ago (so no, the save isen't imported from a precedent version. playing my own one on the last patch) Thanks for the solutions (especially for the stacked char one) even if this post was just to report thoose bugs, a solution's always a plus!

You could copy/pasta the title of my replies. The title of your original post is the only thing anyone can read without actually opening the thread, so its more helpful to summarize the bug(s) encountered to assist devs (and others trolling the bug reports board, such as myself) to see what bugs are out there. Plus, I'm pretty sure its in the forum rules thread.Enkar wrote:Well, for the title, it was more for the comical effect. If you encounter any other bugs along your journey, you should use the search function towards the upper-right corner to see if there is already a workaround for the issue you're encountering (or to see if its been reported already).
Update:
Just tried the Ctrl+shift+f11, diden't seem to change anything, invisible walls still appear when gates are closed, always at the same places.
Also, noticed a char that was out of the base and diden't moove while she has a work order. She was alone in my base while the rest of my squad was roaming and i saw her outside when i came back. Probably a location error at the load of the save, or of the map. i saved the game outside of the base so it might be the reason. (she wasen't in combat mode and the base was locked)

Seems some, or most, of this bugs might be fixed in upcoming update, as looking in the roadmap they working on the pathsystem.
New pathfinder system overhaul using Havok AI:
-Pathfinding smarter, faster, stronger
-Fixes many of the bugs with walls and gates
-fixes the "characters stuck together" bug
-Characters won't get stuck in doorways etc.
-NPC squads will no longer get spawned and stuck in inaccessable areas like mountaintops
-Might fix the memory leak that causes "super crashes"
-Solves all the bugs caused by placing buildings, eg walking through walls
-Faster navmesh generation potentially allows for things like dynamically AI-created towns appearing, or even floods
-Fixes the dodgy "follow character" AI
-Characters will potentially be able to climb walls during base assaults, and defend from building rooftops
