make sure you have building materials in your inventory. and enough of them.
you may need several trips to haul it all to the building you're constructing.

buy the building materials from a town.
takes a while this way but it can easily be done, just not quickly.

Hello,

After you have placed the building blueprints, you have to order some of your toons to build it(right click on the blueprint) using the engineering stat. At least one of those toons should have "Building materials" in his inventory.

You can buy building materials from shops with a hammer or trade sign alternatively you can craft them with the stone processor (minimum requirements a stone processor a stone mine and at least one generator = 18 building mats from memory) but you have to build it using building materials.

Toons stop their assigned task often so be sure to check that everyone does his part.
Shift right clicking on a blueprint with a toon selected will give him the permanent task of engineering (building and repairing buildings) and save you some micromanagement.

Hope that helps

Cheers

from Steam forum pinned topic Useful Information and links For Kenshi
Hatsune_Neko wrote: Question: I just started my game and i can't build anything.
Answer: You will want to look for this sign in a city

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... =193605004

inside is the Construction trader
where you will find your "Outpost Start-up Kit" for 1,500 cats, shown below. This is also where you get construction materials now.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... =193606078

[strike]Once you purchase this start-up kit and if you have a backpack ( like i do in my picture ) you will want to first move the blueprint to your main inventory, then close your backpack. [/strike]basic kit is now defaulted, you no longer have to buy it

Once you have done that all you have to do is right click on the blueprint and you will learn it.
From there you will go out and buy more blueprints to learn so that you can research more and more stuff. Like weapons and armor and other houses and buildings and crafting tables and all that fun stuff.
Now you're on your way to building in Kenshi. ːss13okː
