Whenever I click new game it starts loading then once it gets into character creation it instantly crashes, same happens if I try to load any of my saves. Was working fine last night but now its unplayable due to this.
Edit: Uploaded new crashdump which was created after the game keeps crashing on new game creation, I hope this gets fixed as soon as possible because I cant even play the game because of this.

Validated files and 137 files missing, nice.
I think the game is missing files on updates because this happened last update too.
Any-ways its working now after it re-downloaded the missing files.
Edit: It lets me create a new game fine but whenever I try to load the game it crashes.
Edit2: I re-validated files and it found 136 missing files, booted up the game and it lets me make a new game but I can't load it still.

I'm having the same problem, not sure if it's because of missing files.

Strangely enough I started a freedom seekers game and it worked and I manage to play like 5 hours without any crashes, started a wanderer save and no crashes, not sure what was the issue.
From what happened decriptively I think it has something to do with lowering graphical settings, Both the games it crashed I had lowered my settings all to the lowest, but when playing with default settings none of my games ran into any crashes whatsoever.

I'm having the exact same problem.
I validate my files (Steam player), it fixes the problem with the 136 (or so) missing files, and I can play again.
Here's the thing, though. I don't need to create a new game for the problem to kick in. I just need to launch the game (while everything is fine, and I know if I try to create a new game, it will let me do so as normal), but if I close it, I'll need to validate my files again, before creating a new game or load an existing save file, to fix the "missing files".
EDIT: It happens only if I change the graphics. Thanks to my potato, I can't really run the game well at high graphics, so I prefer to set the game to low (or worse) settings. As result, the next time I try to play the game, I get the error, so I have to validate the game files before playing. Every time.
Kind of off putting, especially due to the game crashing often.

So I lowered the graphics today and it started doing it again, unable to play any of my saves or start a new game, this is very problematic since the game already chews up a lot of system memory from running alone and I'd rather play it at minimal graphics with smooth fps than play it with it chunking every 10 or so seconds.
Another problem is if you validate it deletes all your saves, so you either have to play with chunky fps from the memory consumption or never close the game.
But yeah the main source of the problem is lowering the graphics, relaunching the game and the game then crashes on any attempts to create or load into a save that was using those lowered settings.

The game has never deleted saves after validating game cache files.Stealthkibbler wrote:Another problem is if you validate it deletes all your saves, so you either have to play with chunky fps from the memory consumption or never close the game..
If you can provide a video or something proving this actually happens. because this could be a serious issue.
Do you believe the sexes should be equal?
Oh heavens no.
Then Men would become unmanageable

Nevermind, it just removes the continue button, all my old saves are there, Although everytime I do validate it, it claims there is around 136 files missing everytime, even when I validate it, dont launch it and validate it again. So I dunno whats up with it.Hatsune_Neko wrote:The game has never deleted saves after validating game cache files.Stealthkibbler wrote:Another problem is if you validate it deletes all your saves, so you either have to play with chunky fps from the memory consumption or never close the game..

since I've been fiddling with it a lot here's an updated crash dump, but it is most certainly the graphics being lowered, I think the reason why it works after validation is because it resets all the graphics to the default settings.

I'm pretty sure that's the reason as well.Stealthkibbler wrote:I think the reason why it works after validation is because it resets all the graphics to the default settings.
I changed the graphics on the menu screen and got the error message when I tried to load my game.
Then I manually changed the graphics back to the default, and it let me play, without needing to validate my files.
It's as if for some reason, the game doesn't recognize other settings for the graphics, so I'm forced to run it on high quality with poor performance, sometimes even unplayable performance or getting crashed out of the game.
On I side note, I counter the high quality/low performance by keeping my camera angle at ~45 degrees, and not zoomed too far out, so it runs somewhat smoothly.
Always crashes when loading a game,
it started after the 0.91 version.
it started after the 0.91 version.

Saw in recent patch that this was fixed, loaded up the game on lowest settings and it no longer crashes for me.
