FTL - Faster Than Light. A PC game.

I've been looking for a decent ship-captain game for a while. This is a good 15-30 minute "I have stuff to do soon" game, but I agree with you guys that some kind of freeplay mode would be nice.

The game as-is is perfect for someone on the go (like me), it doesn't take too much power to run, and its still got enough content and aesthetics to be entertaining. However, I'd really like to fly around the galaxy, maybe become a pirate/slave trader or actually join the Feds/rebels. I'd also think it would be cool if the decisions were a bit more meaningful and karmic.

Btw, if you guys want to a more difficult experience, name one character after yourself. If that person dies then game over. FTL Hard Mode haha.

I name all the characters after people I know. A char after myself, the girl I like and my best female friend To be honest none of them ever die for some reason

I find the exact opposite happens. In about 8 of my 10 games so far I've named only one character after myself, the captain. In 7 of those 8 games he has been the ONLY character to die. It is so sad =(

Yahaha the irony I just avoid anything that could hurt my men. By the time I got to the last battle I had 2 guys with full yellow bar in fighting on a teleport pad. a cloak etc etc. I bet the boss without any trouble and had 568 scrap left

Since we are talking about naming chars, i've restarted playing pirates just yesterday (because of a post somewhere on this forum) and i've named all my ships with F1 teams. So right now I have the Mercedes, Ferrari, MacLaren and RedBull (plus my Flagship who's the only one with an original name)

after some research i found out that the first Pirates! came out on 1987. the new 3d version on 2004 and i still got both.. floppy disk ftw!

Ah Sid Meiers Pirates! I remember that game. Great game. Wish they made a 2nd one.

Yeah i lookd some Let's Plays on Youtube but i dont know... It looks funny sure... but its the same thing every round

Yeah its a good game to play for short sessions, nothing crazy like 5-7 hours. Other than that its great. I play it from time to time and its a ton of fun :3

I really want some sort of freeform game where i can build a tribe/nation/country/whatever. there is nothing really out there that i can think of. Something slow paced and gradual. I'm getting tired of arcady things these days. I want to turn a backwater into a powerhouse and do some roleplay along the way.

Any suggestions?
