So does anyone know if Lamellar, Laminar or Plated mail armor will ever be in-game? the models I see seem to all be a solid piece of metal with considerable gaps.

To be perfectly honest, no one knows what kinds of armour will be in-game. Chris has shown a few of the concept art pieces and has indicated a few of his preferences, we also have some in-game already and can assume that the style will continue to exist.

But apart from that, no idea. I guess there could well be a whole range of pieces. Lamellar sounds like a good and likely armour style. Easy enough to create both artistically but also plausible in-game. Since there will be a research part in the game I can imagine that cloth armour with metal pieces sewed onto it could be a very useful middle level of development. It also strikes a good balance between weight and protection as well as providing mixed protection from slashing, stabbing and blunt force trauma.

In the end, I think it is highly likely that we will see something along the lines of this in the future. Once chris fleshes the content side of things out more there will probably be everything you can reasonably imagine included.
