Hi, I think this would go perfectly with the direction of the mod. The faction of the character can better themselves in a single (of say 5 or 10) either soft or hard martial arts. This would give great variation to the unfolding of the game, and probably would not be that hard to code.

Sounds like making 10 martial art styles would be hard to me. Chris has stated there will be unarmed combat, and there are already several weapon styles.
Perhaps you meant 'training sites'. You will have these essentially. You can assign new recruits to training dummies, and (once implemented) they will equip themselves with faction assigned equipment.

That sounds like a good compromiseScotterius wrote:Sounds like making 10 martial art styles would be hard to me. Chris has stated there will be unarmed combat, and there are already several weapon styles.

I am saying this from my Mount and Blade modding experience
It might be nice to see at least 2 different styles of martial arts maybe one that is in some way defense oriented and helps defense and dodge go up faster (dex too perhaps) and then one that is aggressive and does the opposite building attack and strength faster. (Way of the open hand vs Way of the closed fist anyone?)
What about just training unarmed? I was hoping to turn one of my guys into a monk-like character who heals and fights only with his hands, but I can't find any means of training unarmed combat. I tried to train him on the training dummies, but nothing happened.Scotterius wrote:Sounds like making 10 martial art styles would be hard to me. I hope we can start training unarmed on the training dummies or, at the very least, have a trainer in the town who offers to get your levels up in unarmed combat.

Currently the major hurdle to this is the animations, hopefully the Steam Early Access and greenlighting will combine in such a way that allows Chris to purchase the sorts of animations he is after, or perhaps enlist the aid of an animator.
