didn't see this mentioned anywhere. In the future it would be nice to customize you're characters and recruits further by writing a short biography for them when in the "create your Character" screen. People can even write their recruits job descriptions in here to keep track of what each individual does or even for role playing would be good.
and instead of the "med" tab at the bottom left we can have "bio" tab..right now im not sure why we need the "med" tab since it only displays the same thing twice ( see attached picture)
i know beards and stuff are coming later but wasn't sure about this
Ability to type a biography when creating characters
when creating a character the box at the bottom-middle screen that says "create your character" would be a perfect place to type a biography or what not. i initially thought that's what the big box was for, that's what gave me the idea

Not bad, can be something good for the RP element.

I think this is actually a great idea, as I'm just making up Bios in my head for my characters right now. Good idea!
Eh, I don't think I want to see an enemy's stats; makes it more challenging and keeps me guessing as to how well I'm doing and whether I think I can outlast him. I think it should feel like a game of poker: I want to guess whether the hand I have can beat whatever hand my opponent has, and what are the odds that they've got a better hand than mine, and all the guessing that makes playing the game as enjoyable as it is.Tolwrath wrote:Yeah having those 2 med tabs would only make sense if you could show set one of them to a different target's med page. Like being able to monitor the health of your character, and the opponent he/she is fighting. Also: I like the Bio idea.
On topic:
Bios would be a great feature, but it could take a while to write out a really good one, and there isn't a lot of world-building at this point to really expand on what would make sense for a bio (I know factions exist, but what is their stories? What are the stories of the people living in this world? How can I write a story that fits into all this?). Don't get me wrong, having a bio would be great, but I don't know if I would like the idea of actually writing one out when I know so little about this world. It would also take a hell of a long time.
Another possibility would be to just have pre-set stories to choose from and have them structured as to tell a story about your character - the key would have to be a variety of stories beyond the roles you can play in the game, like proper back stories to explain WHY you decided to be X or why you like/dislike Y; you could even do it like Mount and Blade and have some stories impact the skills you improved prior to playing the game, or even relations with factions.
Agreed - someone also mentioned it in another thread, but I'd also like the ability to be able to hide player names and the UI in general with a button switch, so you can witness fights in all their splendor.CalPal wrote: Eh, I don't think I want to see an enemy's stats; makes it more challenging and keeps me guessing as to how well I'm doing and whether I think I can outlast him. It's really difficult to know what's going on atm, as the factions are currently more like placeholders than actual factions with backgrounds. I disagree with your final point in this article as I doubt you could craft a tale like the characters in my game, as I describe:CalPal wrote: Bios would be a great feature, but it could take a while to write out a really good one, and there isn't a lot of world-building at this point to really expand on what would make sense for a bio (I know factions exist, but what is their stories? In my game of Kenshi, I have 4 characters. My initial character, 'Evy' is non-descript - a trader from the capital who came to Brink to make a new start outside the city. My next is Michel - an ex-Holy Empire Paladin who was disgraced who is now a sword-for-hire floating through the bars. The two met as 'Evy' needed some muscle, and travelled to Clownsteady where they met Wee - a Dead Cat merc tired of guarding the lonely town and seeking adventure. The three adventured together, gathering funds to afford a shack in the town of Clownsteady as a base, however 'Evy' and Michel were injured during a bust-up with some sand ninjas. Wee - unskilled in first-aid - rushed to Traders Edge, where he met Zimm, a travelling doctor of the Medic's Guild, who he guarded on the long trip back to Clownsteady where he patched them up. This is about where I am in my game now.
So you see, alot of this story is stuff I've created myself - Michel is only a Holy Paladin because I nicked one of their long-coats when one was unconcious in the desert. Likewise with Wee with the guards patrolling Clownsteady, and Zimm is only of the medics guild because I needed a medic at the time I hired him - I also could've just bought a first-aid kit for Wee to use, but I don't want him to be a medic as a character, so that's why I then needed a fourth character.
I guess the point of telling this story is to show that writing your own stories can be more rewarding for you as the player - and more involved with your characters, than being given a prescription backstory to choose from - especially as when your faction inevitably gets bigger, you'll be using the same backstories after a time.
TL;DR -- Yes to Bios, but allow the player to create them.
