[0.44] "Not assigned to a craft bench"

I did several searches and although I saw this bug pop up sporadically in a few unrelated threads (like "Weapons Disappearing"), there's no dedicated thread for it. The problem I am having, on a consistent basis, is that as of Patch 0.44, I cannot craft weapons because it keeps telling me that the given weapon is "not assigned to a craft bench." It does this whether I have only one weapon in the queue or if I have multiple weapons in the queue.
This occurs with two craft benches within my town (both level III), though I have not tested it with only one craft bench. Note that I have workers assigned (as their primary job) to both benches. The benches have the necessary materials. The workers simply won't go to the crafting bench and commence crafting.
Anyone else experience this bug?

Same thing is happening to me.
was able to make one weapon and after that the only way it will let me build another weapon is to build a new bench.
after reloading the game the character gets started working on the sword but now the bench is missing.
reloading again brought the bench back.

It seems to be an issue with the bench itself, if you look closely it says that they can't continue production due to the output being full. Even if you move the weapon to a rack or an inventory it still says output is full and won't make anymore weapons until you remove the bench.
**EDIT**
Seems that if you quicksave and quickload after removing the item from the bench it will be ready to use again. Saves time compared to rebuilding the bench but still throws a wrench in the whole auto production thing.

Confirmed that saving/reloading temporarily fixes this, but it will recur and another save/load will need to be performed.

I'm suffering from this problem too. It seems the problem happens when the worker is interrupted by any means: bandits or order cancel. He does not return to work and only quicksaving and quickloading solves the problem...
Hope this gets fixed soon as it is a main feature.

Made an account just to answer this.
The problem is somehow connected to having the crafted weapon in the smith's inventory, take it out/give it to another character and he will begin crafting again.

This worked for me. Seems like a problem with the way they deposit crafted weapons into weapon racks. Could be because he has a large weapon equipped, and when picking up the crafted weapon, he puts it into his secondary weapon slot. Will experiment with this and see what I can find out for solutions.Kaemonkamlyn wrote:Made an account just to answer this.![]()

Ok after some testing, I have found that the problem comes from the weaponsmith having a player faction crafted weapon equipped. Because of the script, he is programmed to deposit the crafted weapons into weapon racks before continuing work on a new project. This does not seem to make him deposit the crafted weapons he has equipped, which could be caused by a conflict in the scripting (Just to be clear, I am not a programmer, so I have not looked at the actual code).
The temporary solution I have found is to make sure both his equipped weapons are not player made. If he does not have room to grab a player made weapon into his equipped areas, he will put it into his inventory or backpack and deposit them as intended. Then he will continue crafting.
EDIT- Actually, with backpacks on this is still a little buggy. I still find myself having to deposit stuff manually. However, depositing the swords manually will result 100% in continuation of manufacturing.

Yes this is an annoying issue I came across earlier.
If my crafter has any level or tier of a certain TYPE of weapon in his inventory, or especially if it is equipped, that has been made at the weapon bench... then no bench at all will let him make any item that is that same TYPE.
For example... if my crafter has a "Topper" weapon equipped or in his inventory that is player-made, then once the weapon is finished, not that bench nor any other bench will let him make any other tier or level of any "Topper" weapons until it is removed from that character... but he can make say a "Straight-Katana."
In addition, usually, after ANY weapon is made, for me anyways, the character will stand there until the newly made weapon is removed from his inventory.
This seems to be caused by a bug that causes the crafter to fail in some way of depositing the weapon into a weapon stand. Yet he is programmed to deposit every weapon made before making another. So he stands there at the weapon bench or at the weapon stand, just waiting.
Then general rule for now seems to stand: Keep an eye on your crafters and remove the player-made weapons after every new weapon is made. Once the player-made weapons are removed from him, he should proceed to the next one.

Here's another thread for even further information on the topic:

Simply queue up weapons of different classes and your workers will produce weapons until he wants to produce a weapon of the same class as a weapon located ANYWHERES in his inventory.

Yeah this is a very annoying bug. Hopefully this can be resolved before armor crafting.
Report for 0.45.0; Edited Subject to reflect proper version.
Rather than making a new post, I found this to be close to my report attached as the dialog box stated to do when I crashed; first time in 3 days since I downloaded it crashed. I do love this game reminds me of SWG "Star Wars Galaxies" love to see this as a MMO.
Anyways...
I was in middle of figuring out how to get my 2 guys to deposit to the weapons rack, after removing all weapons from both equipment areas of my guys and que up 11 "Katanas Rusted" my "Worker #1" would come over and assist the other guy "Worker #2" as he made his swords and use the other guy "Worker #1" as a bag of sorts and deposit the swords within his main bag starting in the equipment area and work downward until full (did not use backpack), after selling all the swords (Save & Quick loads later) "Worker #1" came back so I can start the process over I started them again on there own tables and "Worker #1" ran over to the other to start being a bag again I believe and then BAM!
dialog crash box.
I run into some bugs here and there but like you stated from another post they can wait till Beta, I have learned over the years from other games either game load resets and or destroy and remake items usually fixes stuff, I'm willing to deal with it since I do like this game.
Keep up the good work, wish I could help with this game but I lost all my knowledge I had from the 90's of my "C+" days.
