The buy button no longer exists.
It will be re-created by our god Chris_The_Great at a later date.

Ah, I didn't see that it was still gone...

I meant how the NPC's will constantly say 'you should buy the full game', I thought that was overriding other things!

He hadnt even tried it yet and as a result only had what the faq said to go on. keep in mind, fire and sword goes for 15$. That game has how big of a team that built it?

Furthermore, i would suggest having the game be free or cheap until all those alpha bugs get worked out. After he expressed that he would just pirate it, i told the guy about the bugs. He made an observant statement "They only got the ability to load games without crashing and they are charging $10? What a joke"

Hmmmm, you are starting to sound like someone whose mad that they didn't know what they got into.

Bottom line, you pay $10 now, for a buggy game, and get to good around with it until it's a flawless game.

Or you don't pay now. You don't mess around with it. And you pay possibly $30 when it's a flawless game.

What is you/your friends problem?

I think this game is worth $10, if it wasn't worth $10 it would be worth pirating.

I fully support this developer and I will fully support the faithful community with mods/help.

I haven't bought it, and i dont want to see a good game concept fail because the dev whos expertise is in game design doesnt know how to correctly set pricing to bring in the most profit. Many other projects have failed for similar reasons.

Implying that my friend is actually me or that i just dont want to pay the full price is insulting to say the least.

"Well, he can't rightly drop the price now that he's charged people $10 can he?"

Please note.

I am not saying I think 10 dollars isn't a reasonable price

I think it could be 15 dollars!

But if he did lower the price.. He could give the 10 dollars people in-game rewards?

the 10$ people could get a 2nd code to give to a friend. its not exactly a hard issue to solve.

Is this really appropriate, Matt?

You're effectively standing in someones storefront nonchalantly talking about stealing the product, or your friend stealing it. It doesn't matter. It's rude.

Would you walk into a store on the street and just casually start saying... "oh, those reeses pieces ain't sh*t. I know another guy who sells Whatchamacallits and they are only 10cents more, and those mofo's got NOUGAT. We should just steal this guys reese's pieces, right? I mean, the audacity of the guy trying to set his own prices.". Seriously.

If you disagree with the guys plan, email him. Or PM him... or whatever. He can do what he wants. He owns it. If you disagree, move on with your life and spend your $10 on something you want more.

Just because it's the internet and we can be jerks, doesn't mean we have to be.

So, it's too expensive for you and you just want him to drop the price so you can buy it.

Go somewhere else, go play some flash games for free or something.

Some of us DID buy it and feel it was worth it.
You, someone who did NOT buy it, is trying to tell us who DID buy it, whether it was worth $10.....Right, this logic will go a long ways.

I thought of the 10 dollars I spent as a donation towards the development of the game and in return I get the game at an early state with essentially a lot of updates until the final state of the game. An amazing thing too is I'll get to see the evolution of that process.

Also I supported Mount and Blade way back when it was being developed and I think I dropped a 10 there too, now it is a thriving game.

All in all think of the 10$ as a kickstart towards a better development of the game. There is nothing wrong with your expressed alternative routes, but at this stage it wouldn't help fund the games development.

Stating that its "too expensive for me" is completely ridiculous, a simple look on my steam account or mmo history would speak volumes about that. If i have bought it, you idiots tell me i "regret my purchase and am just angry" if i haven't, you tell me its "too expensive for me". Simply do. Not. Post. if this is all you have to contribute to a discussion.

Personally, i am considering buying the game at this price and thinking of it as going to the development of a great concept. However, what needs to be understood is that it DOESNT MATTER what the game is "worth" to each person. What matters is how many people will be willing to put down X amount of money for for game. Unlike when selling physical goods, cutting your price in half is a VIABLE BUSINESS OPTION due to minimal (bandwidth only) costs of multiplying your product. As a result, if you can triple your customers while halving the price, you just made a great decision and now you have much more money!

Whats even more important is building up a community, for a game like this, community building is incredibly important as its your main advertising. If a move was made to halve the current price and people who had already bought the game got a 2nd key for friends, i imagine we would be getting many more people here quickly who would then be advertising the game to even more people, resulting in more money for the development of the game.

To those who fit the description: you need to stop being so hostile. I'm not looking to con the dev out of money, im not suffering "buyers regret" and $10 isnt exactly going to break my budget and leave me starving. Its obvious that you simply dont want to feel "shafted" by the price going down, even if it would make for a better game and more money for the dev in the end. It is you who is selfish.

Matt, you bring up some excellent points, but going off of my own opinion I personally think that the game at this stage is not ready. Perhaps those are options he can explore once the game is more stable and has more of an inkling what Kenshi is all about. At this current build, it might deter potential customers with the mindset that they are buying a" game" rather than funding it with their purchase of a license.

Okay, say he drops the price by half.

What happens when everyone is like hey, he dropped it by half.....What if he does it again if we don't purchase it. Let's wait him out.

The dev needs to leave the price as it is.

As for me feeling shafted for him dropping the price....IF I was worried about that, I would have just waited for a crack.

When I said it was too expensive for you, I meant that it wasn't worth $10 to you. The fact that you havn't bought it means it's too expensive for you.

You said you were debating buying it. You aren't part of the community yet, as you aren't supporting the dev.

If you ARE going to buy it, then obviously selling it for $10 bucks works as it not only got me, it got you, who are soo adamant about having him drop the price before you decide to buy it.

So discussing this is pointless.
He shouldn't drop the price.

As Allan-p said, he's not selling a game.
He's asking for support for a project. If you support him, you get to watch the progress first hand
Start getting used to modding it early.
Have more say in features he's debating than those who havn't supported him.
You get to play the project he's developing while it's being worked on.

This is getting a little out of hand. Ultimately it is up to Chris, both parties have argued well and expressed their thoughts on the matter, as all things in life there are pros and cons, one ultimately needs to weight these out before pressing onto a more workable matter. Matt you are very much welcome here in the community :)

You aren't part of the community.
There's no elitism to it.
When you buy the game, you've decided.
You still havn't decided whether or not you want to be a part of this. When you buy the game, you become part of the community.

And I never said you weren't welcome.

Thanks for being a generally reasonable fellow Allan. I see your point about the current state of the game, its possible that people seeing the game like this might actually do more harm than good. One thing i want to address is that the price will go up, i do hope that the game doesn't get a price increase when it just reaches the playable mark (going back to my earlier points) would result in less sales overall. Rewarding early supporters isnt something that bothers me, but simply raising the price for other people isnt much of a reward.

Synyster, we could argue about what is the "community" but what it comes down to is that you dont think my arguments or opinion are relevant simply because i haven't purchased the game. This is elitism by definition (and also in part, ad hominem), and i see no reason for you to have this point of view if you actually think you have valid arguments. Otherwise you are just creating straw men and distracting and degrading the discussion.

If that were true, I wouldn't be arguing with you would I?

But fine, we can argue differing opinions on what community is all day long.

I agree to disagree if you do.
