So I'm really looking forward to this update and its one of the first things I check every day getting home from work has it been updated yet......
Then after reading the post again for the 20th time I was thinking, cannibals actually eat your characters limb by limb until you rescue them. Gruesome, Disgusting and yet INCREDIBLE. Then I thought about the implications of loosing a man to this group of people looking for a bit of fast food.
If they eat the limbs of my guys is it even worth saving them anymore, I ask this as if he looses and arm he cant fight properly anymore due to the loss of an arm, if he looses a leg will I need to get another guy to carry him everywhere, as he wont be able to hop around operating my mines or anything.
So when they loose a limb do they loose it for good or is it a quick bandage him up and off he goes, or will I have to find prosthetic limbs for them. Or will the robotic limbs be implemented soon? Obviously this update will bring some awesome things but at the same time I am worried that my hard trained guys may be better off rotting in a cage than me saving them.
Could anyone from the development side of things spread some light on these limb eating nut jobs?
Cannibals
Hi, not a dev but my guess would be that you'd have to mount a swift rescue operation, otherwise it's up to you I guess, don't think he's worth it, leave them to their fate I guess.
Also RE: robotic limbs I think this will happen in the future once limb amputation has been implemented.

Greetings all,
If I remember correctly, I think there was mention of some sort of robotics as a feature. Though there could be balance issues with robotic prosthetic limbs; ie. being more powerful then flesh and bone. But you would never 'want' the members of your troop to go through ritualistic dinner-afication in order to get the prosthetic.
But it does raise a rather interesting potential of having roaming automatons to fight in the wastes, as guards, to spar with, etc. Perhaps they are even aligned to specific factions, or have one of their own.
I don't think it is to far fetched or removed from the environment of the game.

My guys had trouble catching a runner they'd lopped all the limbs off of. So its not like you REALLY need your limbs, right?
Anyway, post says that's a future goal, so we'll see how/when it works out. My personal strategy is going to be to try to NOT get captured.
I hope the Cannibals have some cool-looking gear.

Those damm buggy cannibals xD.
I bet they just leave a lot of rotten corpses around which attract bugs.
Tho this does not affect me, not like i gona be playing back any soon, and even when i am able to play i need to order some stuff before let the game update. But gotta give props to the man for working in the weekend just to make a release for us before Christmas.

It s Hbrown!! Gotta get some pies!
I would also think that you traders/engineers/science people would be worth saving, even if they aren't combat capable.
Now that think about it, came kind of random... why are the cannibals hunting starving bandits as well?
Starving bandits -> starving = no food -> loss of fat and muscle = no meat or juicy content -> nothing to cannibals to eat. Shouldn t they just be ignored like that one thiner piece of meat in the plate untill is all there s left
