Hi,

I’ve bought the game yesterday and I played it couple of hours, (epic game by the way keep up the good work), But something really bothered me. After creating my hardcore character I think it’s called “bottom rock” I played like 10 min and by the time I reach the first city I had bandits on me. Only two of them followed me to the city gate were they were slaughtered.

First of all, I tough the guard were going to loot the body or at least there money, but no they went back to guard the gate.
So I said to myself cool free lot this is an epic opportunity  .

I quit the game in a hurry and forgot to save.

So I restarted the game and once again same story bandits start chasing me. This time a whole group followed me into the middle of the city were guard’s merchants and everyone else came to fight them and kill them. Once again NO ONE loot the corps :? .

I know that scavenger are going to be implemented I guess they will try to loot everything but I think it’s kind a wired that a group of bandits will go suicide in the middle of the town just for the sake of killing me and on top of that no one loots them.

I think it would be much better if small groups avoid coming close to the city were they are going to be outnumbered and killed for nothing.

Currently, luring enemies to the guards feels a bit exploitive rather than a sleight of hand, even if it is the bread and butter of a new character. It's an important part of getting an early leap in money and gear, but the difficulty of the game would benefit from them having "fight or flight" AI, taking in regard of how many allies are around them, and how many enemies will engage them if they disregard a foe's aggro range.

Big brotherhoods of bandits and nomadic warbands would still try to attack towns since they have a fighting chance, but small gangs would back off unless they're feeling particularly ballsy. Patrols and police should be exempt, since dying honorably for country and god is part of their work ethic.

Maybe if luring enemies into guards wasn't as reliable a way to gain early loot, there would be more encouragement for non-combative gameplay, like running trade routes.

I actually don't do that anymore, even when starting a new game. I'll take my new character, get some cut resistant armor, and then have him run to a small enemy group and just do "blocks only" until he gets good at blocking. Then he'll have good enough defence to survive long enough to train up his attack skills, and voila, balanced character.

Also, do not forget to use the training dummies located in the cities. Those are helpful.

Another nice thing to do is follow the heavy squads that roam the desert, like samurai or holy empire troops. If one gets knocked out, then that is a nice sword for you to use too.

But things will get better when non-combat jobs are introduced into the cities. I imagine that building repair would be one of them.

Well after roaming around from town to town trying to find a different way to earn money I realised, as some of you guys mentioned earlier, it can only be done through fighting.

So I guess this method (luring enemies to guards) is one of the most viable options for new characters for now.

Still I feel like this is too much of an exploit.

I just hope that later on something will be done about it.

I think I read something were the developer talked about relation between you and your companions and that will flee when they are outnumbered or still fight to the end for you.

If something like that will be implemented I guess that means it will be done for bandits, who should flee when they are outnumbered.

Well I think that is kinda implemented already because my base will get attacled without me knowing because imcoff doing stuff and ill come back and everybody is unconcious except one guy and he'll flee, next his combat state it says "self-preservation". I don't know if this happens to anybody else

Yep, luring bandits or hostile factions to cities is not only exploitative but also a gamebreaker...it causes that city previously neutral or friendly to declare war against that faction who are chasing you...I guess it'll be more realistic for their patrol to retreat in order to avoid intruding the territories of others...

Also at some point without realizing, you'll be looting both the fallen bandits and unconcious guards' equipments so in the end they'll just stand there naked. There's still no function for them to re-arm so over time the hostile factions ran amok in the city killing guards and shopkeepers...now that city is worthless to visit at all...

until some basic body guard missions, AI looting, and some other easier ways for you to get off the ground as a new character are implemented its probably best this is just left alone. Then later the AI can be given more fear and self preservation.
