It would be nice to have a sub-upgrade for any mine or crafting bench which would increase its own storage by a bit.
A multi-level mine should have different levels of sub-upgrades to its level. Such as mine level 1-3 has 1 sub-level upgrade, 4-6 has another level and 7-X has another.
Crafting benches should have only have one or two sub-upgrades even if it can not be upgraded. The upgrade should be applied to both the finished product as well as the raw material(s).

Bump.

Need more storage for buildings, should require building blocks to upgrade storage.

Moved this topic to Feature Requests since OP is asking for a new feature that hasn't been implemented yet.

I do like the idea, and it can be expanded so much further to add additional bits to each building.
This could even be used to break down current structures into 'modules' to allow player bases to be even more customizable.

For example, a player could build a Weapon Smith 1 structure, later add the Smith 2 and Smith 3 bits attached to it in some manner as 'modules', or I could imagine storage being attached to it for ore, fabric, and weapons.
Another example would be clustering armour crafting benches together, so it would be possible to attach a chainmail crafting station to the chain armour crafting bench, the plate beating bench to the heavy armour smithy, and so on.

Essentially this would compact structures a little bit further, and the UI could display all of the attached 'modules' at once rather than having to ferry Ore from storage, to a char's inventory, to the smithy. Rather, it would be a single drag-n-drop action.
At the same time, I would imagine these 'modules' would have a significantly smaller storage space than their Storage Crate counterparts, like a Weapon Stand 'module' attached to the Weapon Smithy could only hold, arbitrarily, 5 weapons at a time.

I like the idea of upgrading and adding to my crafting stations by merging them with others. I hate having to tear down the older benches. Would love to see a research bench 1 in a shack slowly over time become a full fledged lab, in a shack, taking up all the space except for the middle walk way. Mind you, I wouldn't always want it that way, just the option. You could even have a visual difference between an upgraded from level 1 weapon smithy at current level 10 and a brand new level 10 weapon smithy. One would look cobbled together and one all shiny and sleek.

I love the idea.
