It's not fair to generalize and say Steam users are all lazy, it's just simpler for them to stay there. I have accounts here, square enix's forums and Ubisoft's. Used to have one for Bioware's too. It's a whole lot to keep track of (I'm not active on ubi's at all and used to not be active here or at SE near as much) and would be simpler to just have one universal site like Steam. I personally am invested and interested enough to "go the extra mile" and have accounts separate from Steam. Most aren't.

And the point of supporting and participating in any indie game's Early Access, Alpha, Beta, or whatever development phase, is to go the extra mile and participate in as many discussions as possible.
Essentially trying to create a digitized version of yourself within their offices that the team can rely upon for continued support, lest you become a statistic such as, "There are X # of people saying 'this feature sucks' and Y # of people asking questions about when the next update is coming".
Its not that users choosing to stay on a single forum are lazy, they're just missing out on a lot and haven't thought that a world exists outside of said single forum.

I want to point out again that I think you're being entirely unfair with your last statement. It's not about them "not thinking the world exists outside of a single forum." It's about convenience. It's the hallmark of the twenty-first century: the reason why we have things like Steam and consoles and smartphones and such. You're making vaguely derogatory comments when that really isn't necessarily true.

That said, you make an excellent point about this being Early Access, though the fact that the Early Access is through Steam kind of goes against your point (it's a Steam initiative, so Steam should (and does) have a place for feedback).

As to the point itself, that DOES sound nice for all information to be in one place, though I personally don't read the Steam forums at all. But they really can't afford to ignore the Steam forums.

Its not a big gripe. I just wish i could follow one forum and still be able to see all the dev posts, i know chris posts over there more than here recently.
Yeah no. As much as I would like to think it would be that simple...
I moderate on another EA game on steam, and the forum is always in a fuss about being left in the dark. I can agree that updates/progress reports and all that important stuff should be equalized on the two forums, but blocking out one forum is means to a terrible end.

Regardless of whether it's steam, or external, it is still a community that pays for the game. If it were possible to force people to take part on an external site (by disabling the forum or something altogether), it may work. But people are always going to see that the forum there exists, and demand that it gets used appropriately, aswell as they recieve communications just the same.

In short, the EA game i moderate for is blooming on their official forum and left in the dark on steam, and it is hell in a handbasket for me to compensate the masses of people.

Yes, ideally it would be nice to have it all in one place, but that just isn't possible without upsetting mass amounts of people. I'm not sure what the sales difference between Kenshi official and Steam Kenshi are, but I'm not willing to assume that the sales on steam is minimal at best to allow you to ignore the steam forum safely.

Here or there... It is still a community associated with Kenshi.

Well if updates are done via the blog, road map, and announcements then the information is basically all the same anyways with the only difference being what questions and critiques are made on which forum, but luckily the same answers will always apply "its early access" or "you're exaggerating" :P

Well, as w30wnz said, the only real difference between the two forums I reckon are just the questions asked. Steam needs lots of attention because of the significantly larger amount of traffic it gets, but still I'd say we post on both forums equally (although Chris has been less active on both these days)?

I do see what you mean about splitting the forums, but I'd hate to make people sign up to ours if they'd prefer to use Steam. Of course I'll make sure not to neglect this forum though.

I would like to see the development team focus more on fixing bugs and less on adding new features. Once you get the game working then would be a good time for expansions.

unfortunately for you, that is not how game development works.. And the fact that this is the way you see things should be a clear indicator that Early Access is not something for you/you should get into.

Bug are ALWAYS goings to come up. This is a fact. No game that has ever been, was made without a single bug or issue coming up. A lot of these issues come up as you add more things. So it would be a complete waste of time ironing out all the bugs they have right now, only for most likely all of them to either come back or break in another way once they add more stuff later.

So no they shouldn't focus on fixing bugs right now. They doing it just fine as is adding new content and fixing really bad gamebreaking bugs(like game crashes)

My issues with the current build are:

1. Unsatisfactory Male Face Textures (one of the female ones is okay):
it seems like the textures already have some shading in them, which compounds with normal shading very strangely and makes it difficult to customize faces. Also the selection is quite limited.

2. The proposed hivemen race seems to be a collection of old timey racist caricatures of asians

3. Skintone should be able to provide more nuance of color, as an asian I feel a little left out being unable to make a character that looks convincingly asian, I'm sure this is true of other races.

On one hand, male/female faces, the old ones let you to customize them a bit more, so you could do the same type of face look different but with the new face textures they all looks the same and they have unsmooth skin (+ old characters are clones with weird body stances).

On the other hand, I love you all and your awesome creation :D

Well my critic point would be that there is a roadmad ... which isn't really being updated in any appreciable time period

Just for arguments sake - would it be so hard to take the few minutes it takes to update this thing once a month or so?

A roadmap isn't much use if it is outdated most of the time (once a month seems reasonable to me)

it has gotten better attention as of late but always room for improvment.
Do you believe the sexes should be equal?

Then Men would become unmanageable

Next rant : the new LoS system seems to have broken the game a little , i see people not picking up corpse anymore for furnace , i see people standing there not helping there friends getting wrecked 2meters away. Finally Harpoon became useless for the same reason , the mate don't wanna shoot anyone and get caught into melee (And she have 25 in turrets skill and handling a multi barreled turret) , it seems my squad went pacifist in a matter of days and /or stupid too.

perhaps some jobs like the corpse furnace disposal should have the character patrol? that would help them find bodies more they could just patrol areas within the walls(around if the gates open) to look for bodies , same with the furance and loot to ore conversion.

I'm facing the opposite issue.. It's like my entire team is a mindhive connected through some psychological link or something... Sometimes it feels like wherever I am on the map, if some bandit or something so much as looks at one of my units funny, my entire civilization comes rushing to dismember them, but the danger will have been LONG gone by the time they'd actually get there..

Obviously there's a slight exaggeration there, it's more like 500 meters, but that is certainly TOO large of an area. At the distances my units rush to eachother to aid, I would not even be able to tell if the moving objects down the distance were rolling rocks, or fleeing cows... Let alone that they were allies that needed help.

The more units you have, the more impossible it becomes to manage.. It's like a barrel of beans tipping over, and you trying to scoop them all up with your hands putting them back in the barrel, as more rush past your hands, only to have the ones you placed back in the barrel turn around and pour out again while you scoop for others...... Having a limit of 10 units per squad selection makes it even more difficult, as you can't just drag select them all. This seems like it could be easily fixed... reduce the "protect allies" range, as it's obviously got a value in there somewhere... It's not map-wide..
