The Title says it all! I'll start it off.
One time I was traveling into a city when a Leviathan appeared and walked into the city a battle between some bandits and the police. And the police attacked the Leviathan and a all at battle broke out. We all died in the end. But they killed the Leviathan! :D

I was playing anno 2070 the other day and there was an 'in counter' included in the top left. Annoying.

In terms of 'encounters' (which are like totally different things and obviously not in the OP's interests) I've had a huge long battle raging through my base when I turned up the spawn rates.

Some guys were healing in beds while others held them off. And I had to sort of rotate my fighters to try and survive. It went for ages with large portions where I just defended and tried to micromanage my units into cutting a bandit from behind and then waiting for them to bleed down while I defended and ran around. Totes crazy but not an 'in counter'. Sorry I went off topic. :)

Back when I was just starting a game and had about 8 characters. Came over a rise and right into a beak thing lair. In short order all my characters were down and the beak things wandered back to their lair. One character would recover just enough to bandage another before the beak things came charging back and knocked them down.
It took over two hours of recovering, standing up, healing, Pickup and run a few steps, get knocked down, repeat, till I was able to get all my squaddies out of range so they could heal and the beak things wouldn't leave their nest to come after us.
At that point only one was on his feet, the rest were all unconscious and that one had to stand guard for a long time.

But there were no deaths and they were a crazy tough squad once they all healed up.

Craziest encounter I ever had was a group of bandits in Catun killing everything. They seemed to do well until the slave traders came and whooped them. At this point my guy with the best thievery was also captured so I started an uprising in the slave camp. It was great until they pulled out the crossbow turrets. Damn those things are lethal :)

My craziest encounter came with the update that added bounties. It was while some of my guys were relaxing in a bar in Clownsteady. Hungry bandits attacked and were promptly decimated by the combined Police and Mercenary force. However, in the struggle, a Heavy Mercenary accidentally whacked a police officer.

...

You never whack a police officer. The entire town went completely berzerk, with Mercenaries fighting the police. It was a complete disaster. The fighting went on for over a week with various bandit groups taking advantage of the confusion. We locked ourselves in a house only popping outside to quickly administer some first aid to the combatants and mop up stragglers. I'd say the real MVP was a Police Chief with a Fragaxe. She got koncked out and someone looted her armor (her set was high quality. no regrets) but she nakedly continued to slaughter entire hordes. And get tougher. I was impressed.

Was my first game with the losers, 5 scrubs with clubs. I was tired of kiting people into brink and when I saw a samurai patrol I decided it was time for adventure. I set all my guys to bodyguard the samurai lord and we set out. We encountered Hungry Bandits, Dust Bandits and the occasional Sand Ninja Crew. But after a while we began to wonder into cannibal territory. I Already knew the terrors of the Cannibal mob from previous games and was wary but still followed on. We fought 3 mobs before something so terrifying happened that I just noped out. Two mobs began to descend on us, I thought this would be a tough fight but we could do it, until I saw a third cannibal mob come over a hill running out us. My guys ran in the one direction without Cannibals which was east further into cannibal territory, making our escape as the samurai were bludgeoned by cannibals. From there we found an entrance into the canyons which was our only escape from a nearing cannibal mob to the north. After a lot of running and some mapping shenanigans where we even travelled off the map we came to the hill city controlled by the Holy Nation and found salvation. From the experience we managed to get up to 10 skills in att and def so it turned out alright. It also tought me a lesson and we spent a long time kiting bandits again until we recruited enough guys to mob bounties to fund an outpost. Good times.

Mine is still ongoing.
I started a new game with the patch and chose to settle down this time, and I have a slave trader party camp in my town. Didn't help with killing anything, just put shackles on all the hungry bandits I beat down. Eventually they had three times as many slaves as they did slave traders. They started going to find weapons and coming back to whack me, shackles still on and the traders did nothing.

This proceeded until I built a makeshift wall and gate, because then they all of a sudden decided to leave while also now beating down their runaway slaves themselves. That was three in-game days ago. They've since been part of a constant, non-stop fight just outside my gate. Right now there's a trading caravan, slave traders and I think two parties of dust bandits and one hungry bandit squad, all duking it out, with a few dozen corpses and bodies littering the place. It's been fun to watch. :D Every time a bandit party is about to be wiped out, it seems another one comes in from nowhere. I steal all their things and put it in my furnace, so I'm getting iron out of this arrangement.

I think the craziest one for me, when when a horde of Canibals appeared at my gate. But, they were not hostile, and had a 'Diplomatic status' effect, so I just left them and got on with my life. A few days later, the Warchief appeared, and screamed 'MEAT' before my pitiful level two gates where smashed in, and the horde swamped me. After getting my ass kicked on four seperate loadings, I eventually decided to bravely run away.

My crossbow turrets are permanantly manned now...

This happens to me everyday lol, usually its 50 of them since the entire village wants to play.

They're rather generious bringing me their clubs to melt down into iron, wish I could hang them off my walls for decorations though :3

Yea. Bitches tried again several weeks later. Unfortunately, they where faced with my Nine Strawhats (Mercenry plate, Chain Shirt, Reinforced Half Pants, Straw Hat, Edge 5 Katanas, aside from two with high strength, which have edge 5 Heavy Iron Clubs, all with 20+ combat skills) and four harpoon turrets on IV Walls. We did not run this time, and the crows grew fat on Cannibal that day.

kek

Gotta love them mushroom men.

Anyway on topic

a few days ago when I was dabbling into outposts for a first time I was visited by a massive warparty of cannibals I had no walls and only a few men who could fight of the total of the 18 peeps plus their arrival was sudden and unexpected.

At this point I had to decide either if I was gonna run away or make a final stand, #2 was picked

I had to save scrum once but i've never faced such a mass of foes before so I decided to try a different tactic. Pretty much I told the guys who could not fight to block+divide the horde and the people who could to down their buddies. it worked but I ended up having to chase some of the cannibals as they ran off with some of my workers. Nobody got eaten that day but everyone took a quite a beating.

I was legitly worried about losing everything I worked for.

Finally got my Queen of the Deimos character spawned into the game. Set it up as a Game Start to check her stats and such. Found a Leviathan and thought, 'hmm, that'll be a good test'.

She sololed it. Without dipping below 90 hp on any limbs.

I think I might have made her too powerful.

Started a new game as a wanderer. I think I was in Catun. I ran outside the city to get my bearings and saw this ninja just a running towards me. This was just after the update where you could talk to more people so I chose to talk to the ninja. Clicking talk caused my guy to start chasing the ninja who didnt slow down a step. I decided to see what would happen. So my guy follows the ninja all the way back to Catun and all the way into the back where there is a citizen who just came outside her house. The ninja runs right up to the citizen and just starts wailing on her. I had it in high speed and he was just whack whack whack. To be safe, since this ninja just started going psycho, I put my guy into block only. The ninja immediately turns around and hits my guy like 5-6 times real fast all over. Chest and head were both just ruined with maybe 7 points of bleeding going. After hitting me the ninja just takes off running back the way he came from. The citizen goes back inside. My guy is bleeding out in the dust. I leave it on high speed and it must have taken 20 real time minutes for my guy to die. Died on like day 3 so it took him over 2 days to bleed out with a blood loss KO. I just watched, wondering if someone would heal me after healing the citizen but they never did.

To this day I don't chase ninjas anymore. Just leave those guys alone.

Pfft, my Main chick can solo Ninja Jonin. She is a beast! Of course, needs the other fourteen Straw Hats to help her be invincible.

Also, was playing a mod of my own creation, and when I met the guys I had made, I realized I had screwed up on the scale slightly, and they were wielding nine foot poles of Iron. It fit the character, but looked rather stupid.
