Bug Report; Crashing during loading

Just bought this game yesterday and loved the first few hours I played, looking forward to future developments!

This is the second time I have had crashing while trying to load a game, made it work yesterday by deleting most local content uninstalling and reinstalling a few times. Hoping you get it all worked out! Cheers.

The problem is that the game has problem creating/accessing some folders.

Try deleting the Kenshi\save\current\ folder.
This problem must have something to do with windows permissions for the game. It's weird how you were able to play before.

I tried and it says I need permission from myself to delete this file. i tried doing it as an administrator and im the sole user of this computer and its first owner. keeps saying i need administrative permission and denying me. cant delete save>current!

So it worked!!! The first time... it worked yesterday and I successfully deleted the folder without having to delete and reinstall and then was able to load my game and play. Today the "current" folder came back with a vengeance. No matter the amount of jiggery pokery I attempted, it consistently refused me permission to delete it. had to delete and reinstall game again. Should be noted I play newest experimental version.

Okay, how about this: you uninstall your Steam and install it somewhere else. That is if you have a second drive (D,E,F or whatever) install Steam there. If not, install it into C root directory, do not put it into Program Files, as you shouldn't any game, ever. Windows sometimes acts weird, as long as system drive and program files are involved. Also, if not already, try running Steam\Kenshi as administrator. Might help, might not. Try it.

I cant say that I'm super tech savvy, do you have any sort of tutorial link or instructions to install steam in "c root drive"? Why is installing Steam or any game on Program files a bad thing? I mean I get that it may act weird as you say, dont get carpel tunnel trying to go into detail as i wont understand it, but I have never witnessed any apparent problems with any other game I've run. Also does this mean that all of the steam games I have downloaded will be deleted and reinstalled?

Installing something in a root directory of a drive means placing it on the very top. The path to the Steam folder in that case would look like that "C:\Steam\". The reason why you shouldn't install games into the program files folder or onto system drive (the drive where Windows is located) at all is that those places are most limited in terms of folder access and sometimes even you tinkering with rights doesn't help, hence the weirdness. Usually though, if Windows is installed properly, and you're the admin of this PC, you won't run into such problems. Also try switching off UAC (User Account Control).

This is a windows issue, the easiest way to fix it is just to make sure the game is not installed in the C:\program files (x86)\ folder. You could get steam to install your games to a different location (create a new "steam library"), or you can just move the whole \kenshi\ folder somewhere else like C:\games\kenshi

Seems to me that the key problem here is the choice to store save game data in Program Files rather than in the user directory. This same choice makes it difficult for multiple users on a single PC (for example, me and my kids) to play the game w/o permission issues.

I imagine that you could avoid these issues by saving games to %userprofile%\documents\my games\ kenshi instead of the installation directory.

You'd avoid these permission errors and also unblock multi-user systems.
