If there was a generic farming job, like engineering, that simply prioritized which farms to give water to, and which farms to harvest first/last based on time of crop remaining, it would make large settlements (I have the 256 squad mod and I'm up to 130 guys i need to feed) much easier to manage. Not to mention my farms might not die from lack of harvesting or water based on my job priority list.

if just needing water. set a person to haul to water storage. they then fill fields from there.
but there is no way to prioritize this.

Do you believe the sexes should be equal?
Oh heavens no.
Then Men would become unmanageable

I kind of agree a generic job that had them manage all fields would work a little better than having to assign them all to fields individually one by one.
and then one by one delete every field i no longer want them to work.
it'd make life easier if they'd work all the fields preferably with a set radius so as to avoid them travellign to remote settlements - since people often build more than one.

I have run into this same problem worst mistake was having all the farmers selected at once and setting the jobs, they all just ran at the same farm while others rotted
