Yup. We are talking about donations, not forcing people to pay more.

Would it be hard to implement sth like what humble bundle has? Or a more precise example would be indie royale...
You have a fixed minimum price and people can up the price when buying if they want.

You should always proofread carefully to make sure you didn't any words out.

Well I plan on buying another 4-5 copies at the end of this month, mainly just to give Chris money. Until there is another way, I think buying the game multiple times is the easiest way.

It makes sense, Chris is developing this all alone. Would we rather have him developing the game, or developing some donation system? I say let him continue the game! Buying the game basically just generates a "random" key and gives it to you. Nothing more. So by buying the game multiple times, its no different than donating. So for all of those who want to help Chris, I think we should just buy as many copies as we can for now. My plan is also so maybe give some keys away on different forums I visit, to help spread the word of the game.

@MonGooS
Don't just give away a key, open a topic to win a key and give it to the guy who posts the best picture, maybe that will push some people to play the demo and fall in love with the game^^

Humble bundle this time wasn't great nop. Imo the only game worth buying would be world of goo, but I already have that one, so maybe next time lol...

just a comment on increasing the price... eventually its going to happen. simple capitalism. he increases the product thus needing more funds thus the price goes up... :/

And this is also half the reason we bought into the alpha now. Small risk that he never finishes it for the compensation of getting a game cheaper in the long run.

I found another place like Kickstarter that make work for Chriss too.

http://www.indiegogo.com/

A co-worker's sister is using it now and she's from Canada. It says its helped people from all over the world too, so better than US only kickstarter.

Personally I would rather be able to donate than buy more copies. I know I'll be buyng another 4-5 in the future for friends, but I would rather just straight up donate now. That way I can send a donate link to people who have no interest in buying the game, but are willing to help out indie developers. Setting up something like indiegogo or even a paypal donate button is pretty straightforward.

Still don't know what the difference is in this and buying. So someone pays 10 bucks and gets the email yada yada. Delete it.... as was mentioned earlier... its just a random key generated... seriously fought he will run out of key generates.....

Some people don't want to buy a copy for $10, $10, $10, $10, $10, etc... Paypal, or CCs may look at that as fraud. Sometimes its just easier to make a $50 donation for a good cause.

I don't disagree with what you say, but sometimes its just easier to donate.

The demo is free. You can test most features out with that. Also get a bit involved with the community and don't ask for a key in your first post

Obviously all your thinking has come to the conclusion that a $10 investment is the best way to improve the options you have compared to the demo. Its not a big investment, most unemployed people spend way more on smokes/drinks/unnecessary food or snacks/other. You obviously have the internet so you aren't starving to death in a third world country. Tighten that belt and spend $10 on the game.

Aswell Assuming chris claims as self employeed and taxes as he said earlier, purchesing the game will be taxed as an income tax. But gifts (atleast here in Canada) and donations don't get taxed and the donater can also write them off and get money back on there taxes, so everyone wins.

I believe that only donations to certain organisations count as tax deducible. Otherwise I could just donate my entire salary to my wife tax free and she could do the same. The recipient must be a registered charity organisation.
