Wouldn't it be nice if some of u're greatest warriors died and that u can burry him and always remember him. Instead of just letting him disappear.

Grave markers or monuments that are constructible would be cool, especially if you could put your own text on it.
Maybe you could buy one at a stone cutters shop and have the text carved there then have to lug it back to the site or perhaps create a boot hill like cemetery.

Four years later and I wanted to suggest the same request.
Reason being, it would perfectly fit the tone and (personel) story telling aspect of the game.
I would suggest that your living squad mates could burry the dead ones without the use auf any building materials, similar to digging a hole in the ground with your bare hands.
Also the aspect of wiriting your own text an the gravestone (it could also simply be a rusty mark in the landscape) would be nice to have, but is not a necessity. What is a necessity though is the name of the dead character that should be displayed by hovering over the grave.
A grave should not count as a building, therefore does not interfere with taxation or pillaging issues of nations.

yeah I'd be good for a basic base fluff item/s to build. Don't think i need a full on burial animation or anything too detailed.
A small variety of grave stones and/or small statue/monuments kinda things to build. A group would look like a grave yard, or we could place single "monument/statue" larger ones around the base individually.
And then for the extra +, a way to "rename" the built item so that instead of being called "grave stone" or "monument" we can name it after whoever we're honoring in death.
I don't mind that we still just dump their striped of useful items body into the incinerator. But i think it is a cool idea to be able to have some way to in world story remember our fallen/our notable heroes .

I did actual think about a mod like this
Using the existing farms...
Instead of water, they need corpses. (like you do burn corpses and body parts in the oven).
The farms yield some random weapon and armour parts or just plain cats.
Instead of wheat you see crosses.
