All Save files suddenly disappeared

I was playing for a long while without closing my game and it had been maybe 15-20 minutes since I had last saved. I was attempting to kill the Holy Lord Phoenix and the chaos was causing some lag here and there. I managed to get my people back to my outpost and was a bout to save to get off but when i clicked save, no save files were listed and on attempting to enter a new name and save it never went through. I did some googling and tried to copy my current save file to my desktop before closing and put it back in after launch but it didn't work and upon inspection the folder was empty. I tried to use Recurva to recover the files that were in the appdata/local/kenshi/saves and found a good number of files, but i cannot find a recent set of platoon and zone data by date. The most recent platoon data files i can find are from 3/11/21 so not from this playthrough. I'm not sure how much you can help but any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you for your time and this amazing game.
I have the save file document but I cannot attach it here.

Unfortunately, if Recuva didn't find enough, and you don't have any backups, there probably isn't anything that can be done at this point to recover them. :(

To upload the save.log you can zip it up first, then you should be able to attach it.

Yea I didn't have much hope but still thought I'd throw this in here just in case. Thank you for the reply and I understand completely. I'm attaching the zipped save file.

Looks to me like the game wasn't done saving, and then it saved again. Which completely broke its processes for saving until the game rebooted. Not sure why it deleted everything though.

I also note your saves were very large. In the future, it is advised to import at least somewhat regularly. As if you don't, saving takes much longer, and increases the likelihood an error like this could occur. Importing clears out a bunch of extra data that you really don't need.

Okay will do in the future, I thought importing saves was for starting a new playthrough in the same world (same world states etc). Thanks again for the responses.

How big is too big, I wonder? (My largest as yet is around 42 MB for that save's entire folder. And my save.log is 73 MB.) Could the game someday warn you before it's likely to be a problem?

I thought the same as well. I'll have to remember to import now and then.

it can not warn you of save file size. as there is no threshold of when it is to big..
but the more you explore, the larger that save file will grow. if you never import and explore the entire map, your save could be in the gb range.
Do you believe the sexes should be equal?
Oh heavens no.

Can't give a good estimate really. But my main tip would be pay attention to saving times. If it takes more than a few seconds to save, you may want to import.

Scrubject's saves for instance were taking up to 18 seconds to save in some cases, and had roughly 1,700 files in it. That's well past the "probably should import" range.

I'm hoping the issue just gets fixed this time. Since we actually got a log of it. Last time there was a report of this issue we never got a log, so the devs wouldn't have been able to do anything to track it down.

Yea I can confirm that my saves were taking longer and longer to finish. my Kenshi is on an SSD and still it was taking a good 10-15 seconds to save.

Also I'm glad I posted it then I hope it helps you guys in some way. If there's anything else you might want that i can find i'd be more than willing.
