0.26.5

Any and all item traders have not tested other vendors yet.

So it turns out if you drag and drop items around in the vendors backpack he ends up dropping them and it turns out that the game can glitch and duplicate the item about 100 times or so. Sorry no crash dump with this one. Sometimes it works instantly sometimes I have to play with it for a few minutes to get the same results.

1. Drag an item around in the vendors backpack and drop it on another item
2. Repeat step one.
3. Get rich

Severity: Extreme

Edit: I have successfully replicated this exploit on all vendors

If you just spent some time trading you can make money quite well :|

It is buying the gear that makes things difficult.

I'm completely aware of that and I have no intention of using this personally but I felt that it should be known to the Devs and fixed thats all :D

Now if we only had a "like" button or "I approve" this would make it simple.

But yes, see your point, and it might become an exploitable issue later on when the game really gets running. I personally, find a lot more soul in the game when not cheating in the game.

Can you give more exact steps to make it happen?

To recreate this basically this is all you do

1. Drag and drop in the vendors backpack as fast as your fingers can move.

2. Watch vendor get mad and start throwing his stock at you

Good point I never tried it on the wandering traders I have always tested it in shops.

EDIT: Try this open a shop trade window. Left click and move. While you are moving the item around press I to close the inventory. Now press I again, Item still at the cursor? Drop it in your pack free of charge..

that one works and i think its fairly easy to fix it, just make it so when you leave the shop and you have an item in the mouse it wont let you, and BOOM... Done deal.

Yeah and I think I found the key to my seemingly random drag and drop thing.

If you fill up the vendor space where its full but there are a few gaps not quite big enough for an item to fit, Drag a stacked item and drop it on the gap. Vendor drops the item due to lack of space same as the player inventory window.

the problem is that the items dropped are bugged too, and its super hard to pick it up.

True but its possible even if it doesn't always work. And I managed to get an item to duplicate itself about 200 times before but have been unsuccessful in recreating that problem.

Yeah I'm still not sure how I managed to do that. I got the trader to drop a stack of 5 armors then when I looted all 5 it started raining copper plate... No idea what caused it.

Here are the exact steps: Move Items around so that the item you want cant fit, move a MUCH smaller item and place it on top of the item you want, get your item into a small gap, touching 2 or more items, normally this would cause it to search for an available spacing, click, lack of space = FREE STUFF  , hurry up on seeing where the item dropped though, it will sink into the ground, depending on its size, the good thing is, only the slow-to-start weapons work with this, Katanas are way to small, so doing this early on isn't recomendable, smaller clothing can be hard, but the good ones are fairly big inventory takers so it can be done right of the bat if you wish.
