Noob at Building
I've seen how to make a building my question is, since I think i'm getting it wrongly...
I'm supposed to carry 200 building material to build a outpost, building material being that large and that expansive I will need at least 30+ people carrying them? (I could'nt stack them)
And use more 112K in materials and be able to transport all of them away from a city just to build 1 outpost?
I'm playing for a while and i find it really hard to gather all that since bandits in this huge map are "scarce"... and I don't want to start picking fights with the factions that could shelter me in time of needs until I built a fort xD

Im not sure if this has been implemented or is confirmed to be, since i havent built anything yet, but you don't need all resources to build. Just one to start and you can have a line of 50 people all carrying one block. The rest adds to the challenge. You dont want this to be too easy do you? ;P
hi
No but I wish it could stack at least the 5 they sell at the store... I will need to get far from a city to start building right? the building says i need to get far from it... I don't like the idea to get only 10 pieces per run far from a city.... just to put them there and walk all again to bring more 10 pieces 20 more times...
That could do better if charriots got added or donkeys/horses... but anyways xD too much materials are needed

Make lots of trips back to town. Unless you've got an army of dudes with backpacks, there's no way you're carrying enough materials in one run. You only need 1 building material to start building.

That's what I'm talking about... I have like dozen people, and they are not strong... i don't always find an enemy, but when I do I'm sure they have 50x more men then me... too many trips = certain death D:
But oh well, my question was answered afterall... I need to build brick by brick just like the pyramids

you can stack 5 , use a traders back pack, thats what i use, just put them on top of each other
traders backpacks are the way to go. You don't need to move fast. Carrying 30-50 blocks in one pack and only walking the whole way is still faster than running back and forth and doing it 30 times with 1 block. Also, you will increase your strength VERY quickly. Win/win.
Also, you can have a single guy building and the rest of your guys doing the trip with building materials.
Personally, i can't wait until mining is implemented and some way to process the material into our own building blocks. I don't care if it takes ages to do, I just love the idea of being self sufficient.

You're not supposed to build an outpost so early in the game. It's something you should progress to, starting with a shack or a house and working your way up to an outpost.
If you build a house, for example, you can put some chests in it and every time you're going to or passing a city on your way there, pop in and buy some building materials to use on your next building.

You can also kill a shopkeeper and take his backpack, since it can take ALOT more items and I think that it can stack 6 items instead of 5.

I'm not so smart to kill a shopkeeper and get away safely...I was testing the trader backpack and didn't work for me... eveytime I buy they don't stack, if I try to stack myself they just change places like in any other.
EDIT: Found the problem, my trader's backpack is an "Old trader's backpack" from .22 its heavier and does'nt stack

The large outpost is the ultimate building, its not meant to be in easy reach.
Its not finished enough yet, but:
1- You will have pack mules to help you
2- You will be able to build a small shack and mine your own stone and building materials, then you can use that to build up the larger buildings.

Will the large outpost have any other use then for beds and storage? I know you're adding mines and other buildings that do different functions but the current buildings that you can build, will they have any other use besides for storage and beds? For example, will the outpost recruit soldiers who go there to sign up? Or will the bar be a network for spies or assassins?

The buildings are empty shells, you can fill them with machinery, or make it into a bar, shop etc.
oh man I can't express enough how excited I am to read that. even if you don't add any other form of transportation, pack mules alone will make high volume trading so much easier. thank youChris_The_Great wrote:The large outpost is the ultimate building, its not meant to be in easy reach.

I just finished my first large outpost, trying to decide what i want to build next....
I really want walls,to wall in my mountain top.I even picked an area with multiple water sources (oddly they come and go....water there one day,not the next...)
My first thought on walls after finding they were not in yet was, well, ill build a bunch of houses touching side to side and make a wall of houses....but it seems i cant do that due to the spacing rules .
So i have this ton of materials, sitting in my storage chests, but no idea what i want to do with them.
So.... walls soon ?

Damn necromancer...
And yes, walls are going to be implemented at some point iirc.

At some point, there is no clear agenda for it, so there is no use in asking.
