Pack Vehicles
I just got a new idea to post in a new section! Hooray!
Now, I know that vehicles probably won't be in the game, or animals really, but I thought... why not have some very interesting vehicles that are not made to be a method of fast transportation, but more a method of transferring your materials?
The specific vision in my head is sort of like bucket-wheel excavators, check them out.

They don't move fast, but you can load them with everything you could want to carry, and constructing them would be ridiculous. I feel that having such huge and possibly complex machinery could make for some very cool art direction...

I like that idea.
And it would fit in with high tech doors and such. I heard there will be mines so maybe it could be improvement to research and than attach it to mines to speed the income.
But I think they can't be too big. It would be ridiculous if one of those things were made between 2 cities and trade goods going on it automaticly

Yes yes, I don't think they should be quite that big, but I think they should specifically be bigger than normal vehicles and much slower than normal vehicles, all the while much more expensive, relatively, than real vehicles. Very balanced, IMHO, and I think that they'd just fit in and be awesome looking. Heck, I'd possibly even model one if Chris would take it XD although, I'm not the best modeler... as in I've maybe made about 3-4 basic models.

I like the idea but maybe instead have mules, camels and horses pull carts. Another idea is that bandits will attack and loot these on sight so you should protect them.
My point here is that I like the idea of pack vehicles better than animals... I personally think animals wouldn't really fit into the Kenshi atmosphere.

I like this idea! Obviously, they would have to be extremely hard to take down, or always be guarded by enemy AI (if it's not one of your own) otherwise I see another tradesman's back-back exploit happening again. Could be cool if you had to actually walk on the thing in order to obtain the loot from it.

Since I started playing Kenshi I though the idea of having a rusty little carry-kart type thing would be cool, lol.
like a little robot buggy with wheels that carried your stuff alongside your guys.
Either that or it could have legs and walk, that'd be cool too.
[Edit] I was having a hard time thinking of how to describe it but i'm thinking of an automatic wagon, basically. Imagine a little red wagon that moved on it's own...heh

People just can't get over the idea that Kenshi isn't 16th century freaking Japan. We aren't hunter gatherers. It's post apocalyptic. You can have robotic limbs, but not vehicles? Yeah, okay, whatever buddy. I think this is an excellent idea. If there are vehicles I feel they should be total rust buckets and shoddy, but still able to get the work done. Of course a large powerful vehicle would gain the attention of bandits and other factions (due to your technological level). I'm not saying we should have sports cars and stuff, but I think more odd vehicles like this one that are clunky and not always practical would fit in nicely. It sort of, I don't know, gives you a feel that there actually was some moderately advanced society before the apocalypse. It sort of feels like... Hayao Miyazaki's movies. They have these random vehicles and things that are hyper advanced, but the majority of the population is living with pack mules and leading nomadic lives. I haven't seen one of his movies in quite some time, but an example would be Howl's Moving Castle and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind I think. I dunno. If that doesn't tickle your fancy, ignore that last analogy.
Basically, good idea. Two thumbs up.

I think there should be animals for the majority of the people, and then the super wealthy/powerful factions only have the excavator type things.ownpk611 wrote:I don't see why animals wouldn't fit in with the atmosphere...? honestly why no camels for exactly what u are proposing plus in a realistic atmosphere you couldn't walk across these deserts without a camel or two at LEAST!

I know I'm kind of spamming, but this. 5 star post.
By the way, just imagine if we had "futuristic" (not like jets and tanks or something, just compared to the weapons used, they're futuristic) kind of vehicles while everyone still uses bows and swords. That sounds like a really unique and fun scenario for a game.

Just my 2 pence worth but some form of sail based vehicles would be good aesthetically I think. Think rusty sail boats on wheels....

Not bad.

I'm fairly sure there will be pack animals but no vehicles and the biomes in the game are supposed to become more varied so that different parts of the world will have vegetation and such, I think I read somewhere that there would even be wild animals.

There will be animals for pasture or feral animals or untamed but harmless animals... unless you mean transport animals. There won't be any of those.toxiciron wrote:I just got a new idea to post in a new section! Hooray!

Anyone here ever played Guns of Icarus? If you did, then you know what I'm thinking.
I can bet you this WON'T be put in, but just imagine.. flying zeppelins with cannons fighting in the skies. Every now and then you'd see one, spouting along, carrying goods. They'd be ungodly expensive, and the weapons even more expensive, but they could be used for many things, from siege weapons to simple transport. And it'd have many different hard parts, such as the balloon , or the hull, and you could have a bunch of guys manning it, repairing it, firing, ect ect.

I'm fairly certain that Vehicles have been vetoed and Animals confirmed by Chris in the past. There may very well be reasons for this that tie into the lack of guns, people in the world of Kenshi may be horrified by explosions and think that anyone who hears an explosion might be possessed by demons looking to escape the clamor.
