If I know that the geforce 540 desktop version has the bug then I can buy one to test on. I don't want to buy a whole laptop just to test it though.

My Nvidea GPU is GT555 M, if you want to test this I do not think it is a problem with the Nvidea GPU as such, but with Optimus. Kenshi refuses to wake up the Nvidea GPU (no matter hwat I try) and forces it to run on the Intel card.

As said before I'm quite certain that its the Intel card that causes the problem.

I've found a temporary solution to this problem.

By removing:
Sand01bc - Copy.dds
Sand01bc.adds

From Kenshi\data\land\textures
(Make sure Sand01bc_n.dds and the rest of the textures are left alone.)

I've found that it made the ground being all black, a bit more bearable.

Instead of deleting those textures I'd move them to a temporary folder, just in case this doesn't work for you. Hope this helps!

what happens if you replace Sand01bc.dds and Sand01bc_n.dds with renamed copies of Cliffs01.dds and Cliffs01_n.dds?

also try this file, show me what happens.

Unzip the contents to kenshi/data/materials/ and overwrite the old file in there (AVTerrain.cg).
Make sure you put it in the right place and overwrite it, otherwise nothing will change and you will lead me down the wrong path, and then it will never get fixed.

I just replaced the file "AVTerrain.cg" that was in my data/materials/ with the copy downloaded from your post. I did not witness any change. Would starting a new character instead of loading one make a difference?

I've tried this and unfortunately it either worsens or neglects to fix the problem.

I tried to do this, but then it crashes on startup. I have attached the chrashDump zip.

I am also having this problem. After finally getting a copy of the game to boot through Desura my sand texture is pitch black. I am using the Intel HD graphics chip onboard a compact desktop. Tried all sorts of settings with no luck. Any chance of a fix for this soon?

Replacing the AVTerrain.cg file with the one in the zip file fixed my problems as well, I also originally had the "Invisble Ground" glitch so if that hasn't been fixed for some people yet(I haven't followed up on it) perhaps this file could fix that also.

Like I said, it doesn't fix it, it makes it all go red. I need to see a screenshot so I can carry on fixing it, otherwise its going to be like that forever.
