Come to think of it, Chris compared Kenshi to X-COM in one of his descriptions of the game, and we will have research... I say there should be logs like in the original X-COM, where they gave you a short sci-fi description of different technologies/etc. which you had discovered.

Because any random guy won't go through 6 pages of random rambling to know whether or not it is realistic... I mean, if for some reason Chris decide to implement robotics(or whatever) limbs, it would have to be easy enough for anyone to understand... So we forget everything about advanced surgery, and we stop creating scenarios to justify that because if I have to play something, I am certainly not reading 3 thesis, I ust want to jump into the action, maybe read a bit, but just a little bit... And that's all!!!

As long as I can get a robotic tail as additional counterbalance to the weight of mechanical limbs and battery storage. Also robotic cat ears for solar panels, hearing aid, speakers or radio transmitter/receiver. Then I'd be totally accepting of whatever logical or illogical arguments support robotic limbs. Also they could look cool (and maybe even sexy) without needing a tail or ears. And that's 4 lines... 5 now.

I read an article the other day about making steam without boiling water. Basically, water is mixed with a bunch of nano-particles and when sunlight hits the particles they vibrate so fast that the water skips the boiling stage and flashes directly to steam. Now, for those of you that don't know. Nano-particles in our modern day labs are made through chemistry. They are basically induced to self assemble in a chemical solution.

Water + nanotech + light(doesn't have to be sunlight) = steam power = steam powered stuff --> steampunk inspired artificial limbs?

Just thought I'd throw that out there. On the robotics side of the argument...How do you fabricate computer chips in the post apocalypse? I have to go with, "You can't." Salvage or scavenge. Re-purpose old war machine parts. I don't think they would be manufacturable without a high tech economy. It's hard to get around the surgery aspect as well. Where would you find the time to train someone to do that?

We already have robotic arms that can be controlled remotely with only thought. No surgery needed. Not sure about legs and feet. I guess we have purely mechanical versions of those that work well enough for what they need to do so the problem is mainly about arms and hands. Do 3D printers make it through the apocalypse? We will be printing everything we use before too long here in reality so perhaps Kenshi only needs one or two surviving 3D printers to solve the robotics issue. Recycled plastics + 3D printers + computers = robot arms?

Not unless there was a scientific entity/faction (Brotherhood of steel-ish group?) that had access to an abandoned/buried tech facility.(Some how the machinery was kept intact) Basically, one tech factory can probably produce enough parts for the general area of Kenshi.

About the surgery, it's steampunk and many steampunk games have got robotic arms. Hell, there's even sometimes a brain surrounded by a huge mech with artificial organs! Also, GIMMIE DAT COOKIE YOU HAVE!

Bandits? I think not, Sir! Any alien prosthetics would be reserved for peoples of great valor or monetary standing. Why I should think a bandit would ne'er even be able to touch one.
