I lost my key!

Send an email to orders -at- bmtmicro.com. You will need to tell them the exact email address you used when you ordered, and ask them to re-send you your key.

-if you buy now here on the lo-fi website, you will get an additional Steam key in your email when you buy.
-if you bought here on the lo-fi website in the past, you should be able to use your existing Kenshi key to redeem a Steam copy. (Got an older, name/key combo? Just leave the name part out)
-If you bought on Desura or GamersGate you should be able to use your existing Kenshi key to redeem a Steam copy.
-If you had a key personally generated by me (eg you lost your key and asked for a replacement) then it won't work on Steam unfortunately, as it won't be in the archive. Sorry about that, but please don't pester me to personally get you a Steam key.

I bought Kenshi through lofigames.com but the Steam key that came with the order confirmation email just displays as ##regkey2##

This is a bug in BMT Micros system. You'll need to email them, same as above, to orders -at- bmtmicro.com and they will sort it out for you

Desura lost all my games and won't respond to my emails!

Send proof of purchase to sam.h@lofigames.com and we will do our best to replace your Desura key with a Steam key.

I bought Kenshi on Steam but the box that pops up just says "Requesting key".

First make sure you update Steam like this:


Also you can try this solution (the exact file you need to delete may be a different name):

The first few hundred sold were a name-key combo, but it caused a lot of trouble for some people, so now its just a keycode. So if you have one of these old name/key ones, you are awesome, and you can enter your name and key all on one line like this, with a space in between:

I bought kenshi but have not got my key delivered!

Keys are usually sent instantly, but in rare cases there are credit card checks and stuff that can delay your order, so sometimes it can take a few hours. Also, check your junk mail. If you still don't get your key, send me a pm or an email to specialorders at lofigames .com

I have the game on Steam but I don't know where to enter the keycode. No "Enter key:" box appears when I start the game.

Steam version is DRM free! So if you download through Steam, it is already the full version, no need to enter a key.

I want a desura key, but I didn't buy it on desura. Can you convert my key to a desura one?

No sorry, this requires manual work for me to do this so I don't have the time. But once you enter the key on your system it will always be the full working version, so you can download it on desura as a demo and it will still work fully.

I paid extra for one of the special bonus versions, because I am great. But in the email, it had instructions to just "reply to this email" to claim my bonus. But the reply address was an @bmtmicro.com address.

Sorry, I think the order system I use used to show my email address in the reply field, but now it doesn't. If you have an un-claimed bonus, send your email reply to specialorders at lofigames.com.

If your key is in this format, it's more likely to be valid.

If you bought in 2011 just after release you may have a name/key combination. In which case, enter it like this with a space in between:

Can I use/enter my key while offline?

For both playing the game and entering key, you don't need the Internet.

Does it matter where I get my key from?

No, even if you buy your key with BMT, Desura or GamersGate, you will be asked to enter your key on starting until you enter your key.

hopefully this is not the wrong place to post my question. ^^

Thing is, I bought the game for a friend of mine and myself, and we ended up both using the same key. Now I have no clue how to get rid of the key in my system to put in my key.

After uninstalling I tried to fight my way through the registry, deleting everything I found with the word "kenshi", but the key is still saved somewhere.

Just leave it like that, it won't do any harm. Keep your own key safe in case you get a new PC or something.

Hello, I read some topics but I don't seem to find the exact information I'm looking for.
Here's the problem I have.
I bought Kenshi on GamersGate with the IndieFort Bundle. Stop, don't be angry I don't want you to convert me my key. I read that you don't have the time to convert manually the keys and create the game at the same time and I understand your argument and I accept it consequently.
Therefore to resolve my pressing matter I read on this forum that you can download the Kenshi demo from Desura and register the key on that version to unlock a "full" version.
Here's the problem I have. I already downloaded my full version from GamersGate and activated it with my IndieFort Bundle key so when I downloaded the demo version from Desura it didn't ask me to register it to convert it to the full version.
Now everytime I run the game from Desura and it don't ask me nothing anymore. Is it already registered because I've previously registered the GamersGate version? Is the key stored away in the registry or a crypted nook of my hard disc drive?
Colour me confused.

Yes, its already full-version, and will always work now unless you re-format

Currently no keys are working on steam. I think its technical issues for steam because my key codes are so long. But it will be sorted out soon.

My key wasn't working with steam until I activated Steam Beta. Go to File or Steam -> Settings and then activate beta updates. After this my key activated properly.

i don't know about you, but im not using the Steam Beta and i managed to redeem mine without a problem.... i guess thats a bit better then desura refusing mine.... i would've pop a vein if it did

I'm not sure if I really have a problem because the game is running fine. I bought Kenshi on steam, but each time I start it, a window pops up with my activation key but when I try to activate it, it appears to be invalid. I've read before that if it is purchased from steam you may not need any key, but I wanted to be sure about that to not have problems with updates.

Finally, I don't know if it's related with the registration key, but in the game my squad name is 'Nameless'. Do I need to activate the game to have a user name? Or it doesn't matter to not have a name??

do not worry about the Activation Key on steam
you can click the option that tells you if you want to ignore it or not.
