Hey, I had a thought occur to me recently, but I wanted to see if anyone else could give an answer on this subject.
So as the name of the title goes, I'm wondering what the game specs will be upon final release? My biggest problem regarding this game is whether my graphics card as it is can handle the final form or whether I'll be stuck with a pretty much unplayable game.
My specs are as follows:
2011 Lenovo Z570
750GB HD
8GB RAM
Intel Core i5-2410M
Intel Integrated Graphics Card
As you can see, my graphics card isn't much at all, but it has allowed me to play games such as Mount and Blade, Rome: Total War, TES: Morrowind and Tropico 4. Will this be enough for the final version of Kenshi?
Planned Game Specs?
I asked Chris this recently on another thread - he said that once the new art is in, the required specs will more than likely go up. He also said that he will do some optimization, but that's not his priority over finishing the base game.
Directly answering your question - it's impossible to know at this stage what the final specs will be because not all of the features are in yet. There will eventually be more NPC's, multiple factions vying for control, trees, water and this is just the basics that are yet to be incorporated - let alone any fancy shaders and possible other graphical polishes.

I won't lie, the uneasy vagueness of this answer isn't exactly making me feel all that great. I love this game, I want to be able to play it on my free time, but if I don't have the specs for this game, who knows when I'll ever have the right computer to play the game? It could be months, or even years, before I need another PC or can afford one that can run this system.
If Chris does read this, I really do hope he will design the game so that Kenshi can be played on anything from an Integrated graphics card to the top of the line stuff, like that new Nvidia Titan or whatever it's called.

Thats all good and all that you want that, but what this game is going for will be heavily CPU intensive. AI is usually taken care of on the CPU, and no matter what the graphics look like the game will be have above average specs for the graphics that it will employ at the time of release (this is all guesswork). The graphics that he has shown are definitely going to be better, and the computer you are on know seems utterly irrelevant when it comes to the gaming scene IMO. You mentioned Mount and Blade and Rome Total War, which are games that were made, or started development in MB's case, in 2004 or 2005. If you are having trouble with those on that computer then there is nothing that can be done.
This is not to say that he shouldn't accommodate lower PCs, but there has to be a point where that ends and it is up to the person to get a better computer to support their hobby.

This is the general specs found under "Downloads"
Windows XP or later
At least 1GB RAM (but probably 2GB)
At least a 2-core CPU
A good video card, reccommend at least 512MB of VRAM.
Multi-threading was implemented.
This specs should be a little bit outdated.

No, those games run perfectly fine on my computer, I can play M&B close to and even sometimes just barely over 100% graphics capabilities. That's what I mentioned in my post, though I guess not specifically enough. Even Tropico 4 runs great and it was made recently, I don't have a problem with that.TacKLed wrote:If you are having trouble with those on that computer then there is nothing that can be done.

I only just started getting into PC gaming late last year when I first installed Steam on this computer, so it isn't fully my fault I don't have a PC equipped for this. I get that I won't ever handle Skyrim, but I can get by on some games. I made the mistake of buying a game this PC couldn't handle once, for another indie game, and that's why I'm taking extra care to double-check my specs and see what I can play, which is admittedly not much.
