Hello,
I would love to see monsters to fight, though i realise this would be extra work, also bad robots!!!,maybe could be later expansion?.

Monsters
Hunting would make sense if you were trying to add wildlife in the game. In a post-apocalyptic setting such as this game, it would also make sense to have some form of monsters, though nothing too mythical or complex in design. Perhaps mutated - not necessarily radioactively-induced - animals or "veteran" creatures that have survived multiple hunting attacks and are vicious and insanely difficult to kill with just one hunter.
Robots, however, I don't know right now if they would fit into the story. Generators do exist, but to build and sustain a generator is very different from building and sustaining a robot. Whereas you have a structure that solely produces power for other buildings to do, robots have to be able to perform complex tasks, and that requires being able to understand electronics and building code for robots, which seems a little too complex for the people of this world; you also need to keep them lubricated so their parts don't break down as easily, which requires extracting oil of some sort. Maybe if you got your research and science extremely high, you could design and develop robots for multiple purposes, but I stress that robots should be insanely difficult to acquire, especially to build them from scratch.

Well there is a robotics skill as well, so I think theres going to be at least a limited level of robots in game planned

Ok being serious now, only if they are rare and quite strong. They can be original, as long as their biology makes sense and is not fantasy-based.

Sometimes i just wanna ban you somewhere far away iSuck, your posts give me a headache
Yes. Chris (the dev) said it himself, there will be a few variations of human races and a few alien races (maybe). And there will be a robot race.Aku wrote:Well there is a robotics skill as well, so I think theres going to be at least a limited level of robots in game planned
You should always proofread carefully to make sure you didn't any words out.
Need help? pm me or any other mod.
Aliens... huh. I had no idea this was going to happen.
Well, if that's the case, then hell, I have no problem with robots existing. Human variations seem pretty cool, but will the differences be more than just cultural (i.e., would they have enough different physical appearances that they would constitute another race)? My other question regarding that is, if there are alien races, are they going to be technically more advanced than us? If yes, why would we not have guns if they're around? If not, then why isn't that the case? How did they fail to adapt or save their technology?

Well it could be one of two ways, by aliens they simply mean aliens as we see them, not necissarily alien to the place Kenshi is based, so that would lead to them most likely being of the same technological level and only looking different.CalPal wrote:My other question regarding that is, if there are alien races, are they going to be technically more advanced than us? The other option is that they came from elsewhere and do have more advanced technology (possibly not TOO far ahead of the humans in Kenshi), and then you could have the path where they have ranged weapons of some sort and are very tough to take down, or maybe they were peaceful before meeting humans, or the could just never have went further than swords (possibly caring more about their personal honor than having the advantage of a ranged weapon).
I guess we won't know until anything official comes but it's fun to speculate what the possibilities are. If the aliens are more advanced it could easily explain where the robots came from in the first place.

Or maybe pacifist anarchists or religious fanatics who actually TRULY believed in not shedding blood unless in self defense destroyed the fanatics. In the game "Emperor of the Fading Suns", if you researched a tech forbidden by the almighty b*tchy, arrogant and annoying church they wold spawn inquisitors that wold destroy your research facilities. If they destroyed ALL of them, you wold loose ALL of what you had researched.
