One thing we can do is to help make tech harder is to require those buildings to be built before research the next tier up
Weapons and armor maybe have to research each way to forge a blade or armor is made then make it and break it apart so ur researchers can inspect how it's made and impove on it(example make it lighter, stronger, more durable, cover more area for armor) (for weapons how to make edge better, better handles, lighter for more speed, or heavier if need more power or blunt dgm)
Other tech I think would be good is something you can call sight, I think towns and out posts need like watchtowers to scan the area for incomeing travels or attacks form other factions or badits. With it in tech u increase sight range, how fast they see its am enemy or even detect stealth units like ninjas
I also don't think we should move straight to another Lvl of tech unless we have everything in the Lvl of tech we are in
How to make tech more diverse

I agree tech should be harder to learn but I disagree that we should have to build everything before it first.
Perhaps make it rewarding to practice it like with the blades the more you make the more experienced your guy will be making the blade better, also can make them faster. Somehow integrate it with the other techs too, not real sure how to do with the buildings unless they can fall over randomly or we have siege engines like catapults or B2 bombers.
P.S
Siege engines would be pretty fun to have in game.

Research could use some work. But keep in mind its not finished. From what i understand, chris had mentioned that location was going to be a factor for research: ie we will have to build bases in dangerous places in order to advance our research.
I hope they fix the crafting menu before anything else, its a real pain in the ass to select what you want to craft.
